DA has been one of my favorite players for awhile....even when he was at Kentucky. He's the perfect fit for this team. Regardless of the talent he brings....that's a given. His whole attitude. He's arrogant, cocky and confidant. (A good guy overall) He's the black Jon Barry. Don't get me wrong......that type of player may not fit with some teams, but for this team....it's perfect. Every Championship teams needs an edge to go along with the ultimate talent. The Rockets just added talent and more edge to the team. I don't believe he will be a distraction......he will be that talented piece that we needed most last year. J Howard absense hurt us, but not as bad as the absense of an athletic guard in the back court when losing the Mavs. DA can simply play......and a cocky MoFo. If you liked what Jon Barry brought to the table last year......you'll be ecstatic with what DA brings. I think people will enjoy him more than Stro Swift. (and to be honest....there's a chance that Stro may not start over J Howard.....J Howard was playing his ass off before the injury) I can only hope DA brings that fire he brought the Spurs back in 2000. He had that edge they needed.

I don't think as highly of DA as you do (although he is a good player)... but I agree with your post. Edge and attitude. Good stuff. And thanks for recognizing that JHoward was playing so well before his injury/illness. I don't think folks give him enough props.

I think the best part of the interview is right when he signs off and says he's thankful to be here FINALLY. If there's anything I respect most about players, its their loyalty to their team. And based on the interview, he really has his "business mind" set on staying here in Houston after his 2 years. I wish the best of luck to him. It's going to be a great year.

I believe he (Derick A) wants atleast a midlevel contract after next year and if he plays well....CD will give it to him. We all know that CD will make sure he's taken care of ala Mo Taylor. I just hope its a 2 year Midlevel with a third year team option. DA will be a big part of this team next year, but the improvement of YAO and the play of J Howard will be very, very important.

Great interview with Derek. This guy sounds a lot like Denzal Washington.

All i know is, he's a zillion times better at interviews that Stro! But really, he seems like a smart guy and a smart player from the interview. I like him already.

Actually I think Derek Anderson sound like Michael Jordan doing interviews. Very articulate, very intelligent and gets his point across. Good communicator.
