I grew up on things like AC/DC and Rush. Listened to some Metallica and Anthrax along the way. I like old REM and The Smithereens. I love SRV and have been getting into Kenny Wayne Shepherd a little bit. But I've been doing something here lately I never thought I would do: I've been looking for Fender Telecaster, twangy country music. I really like the Brad Paisley CD (when he's playing his Telecaster, that is). I like Dwight Yoakum's guitarist Pete Anderson. Here's the question: Do any of you know any really good CD's with that kind of stuff? I'm addicted, but I don't know where to find it or who's good.

    Albert Collins for blues twang
Junior Brown for country twang. Junior plays a custom Tele with a lap steel bolted onto it and he switches back & forth between the two. He's an amazing player.

Albert Lee was probably the undisputed king of electric telecaster country picking. You might consider picking up some stuff by the late Danny Gatton as well. Those are more on the edge of country and rock as opposed to straight country.

Much of that twang and picking style came from flatpicking which is native to bluegrass and western swing. That stuff is cool as well but it was all played on acoustic.

    And then, depression set in...
