Alright, I'm being chastised by a friend of mine who thinks I'm a pretty good singer. I'm going to let her post what she wants because she's pissed that I don't continue trying to sing professionally. Christina... It's all yours.. I just heard him sing and I believe this is a god given talent. I told him that that if he does not make the best of what he has been given, it is a blessing that is wasted. I believe in him! Listen!
Maybe y'all are missing something. I sang professionally in 97 and 98. I quit due to my future ex-wife becoming pregnant. I figured it was time to get into the "real" world. I've obviously sang occasionally at open jams from time to time, but I never thought about getting back into the music biz. Basically, I went out last night, and I sang in front of about a dozen people for about 10 minutes, and they were all telling me I should get back into music. Today, my friend wanted me to sing for her due to what she had heard from everyone from last night. I did a couple of songs acapella, and she started b****ing at me for not going back into music, and was essentially berating me. I told her I would post on here because I knew there were a few musician's on this board and see if there were any takers. I guess the point of putting this post here was two-fold. #1, to get her to stop busting my chops, and #2, to see if anyone would mind me performing with them. I hope this makes more sense.
Wouldn't it help if you told people what type of music you are strongest in? Ozzy Osbourne? Elvis Costello? Frank Sinatra? Luciano Pavarotti? Johnny Cash?
Really hard to say. I like good music, but most people wouldn't agree with my tastes. Good example. I tend to burn a CD when I'm over at my friends house. He affectionately started putting "Jim Crap: Vol. 1" and so forth. I'm up to "Jim Crap Vol. X" but my CD's are eclectic, to say the least. My last CD had 80's rock, Country, Big Band, and Techno on it. Basically, that's what friends hate about my CD's; they're all scatterbrained. But back to your question. I typically sing rock, and country. But, given the lyrics, I can sing pretty much anything. I'm basically a tenor singer, with ranges into Alto and bass.
We'll see. I have to find someone who's willing to record with me. Chance? RMTex? Bueller? I would totally try out for IDOL if they ever allow people in my age bracket. Good pic, BTW.
Completely agreed. But the girl would not leave me alone unless I did something. And, hey! Not to toot my own horn, but I am damn good.
FFB- What are your expectations from 'getting back' into music? Play in a local band and do covers at Tinsley Park? Or make it a full time career with a sight on being commercially successful?
I'm not a good singer, but I get to do it for a living. You should get back into it. Do you play any other instruments. If so, you should start something up.
