To all you guy's out there telling him to start with the fuel filter, have you ever tried to remove the fuel filter off a 9 year old (insert GM truck here)? Like the morons they are, GM mounts the fuel filter under the chassie. It's not that hard to get to, it's probably under right under the drivers side door. Problem is that after 9 years that thing is probably so covered in crap that it isn't ever going to come off. The last one I did... scratch that... tried to do, was on a 10 year old Saffari. After trying to get it off for about an hour I said screw it and took it to a garage to do it. They proceded to replace the fuel line with the filter instead of trying to get the old one off. The mechanic there said they don't even try to get them off. Try getting a jump start first.
Which kind of Blazer is that?...the S10 or the full size one? fuel injected I would imagine....It will probably be the tank pump...Im not sure on the newer model ones.... if it is in the tank...it could get expensive...the pump itself isnt that bad...its the labor to drain and drop the tank that gets you.
Alright... so what does it mean when you press the gas and it makes this weird almost like a clicking sounds for like 3 seconds, and then when you release the gas it makes the same noise???
well...thats a pretty vague description... what grade of gas are you using? did this just start and did you change anything like using reg unlead before it started? where does the sound appear to come from? diagnosing sounds is very difficult to do unless one can hear them for themselves.
It's the S-10. What can I say, I paid it off 4 years ago so I'm in no hurry to get anything new. Car payments suck. I only have to have work done on it about once a year, so it's still cheaper in the long run. So a fuel pump can run between $40 and $500?? Maybe I'll find the owners manual when I get home and see if I can tell where it's located. Sounds like that would make a huge difference price-wise.
yea...depends on where it is located. but unfortunately for you....in the s10...it is almost certainly located in the tank. I still dont expect the pump itself to cost that much...it is all about the labor. IIRC...flatrate times for dropping the tank and replacing the pump are right around 3 hours @50-70(depends on where you go obviously) per flatrate hour
I am not a car guy. I did have similiar thing happened to me before, I have pretty new car, however, it won't start after sitting there for a whole night. Finally I find out that my battery is too old, I got it change in Sears and there's no more problem. Take your car to a battery change place and have them test it out to see if it's time to replace it.
Oh, come on, R2K.... tell ima what you really want to: "Get rid of the damn thing, you bloody fool! Buy a fish tank!! Brought to you by "one of the most level-headed posters on the board."
Okay step by step. 1) open door 2) sit in car 3) stick key in hole 4) turn key so you can step on brakes but dont turn the key so you can actually try and start the car 5)while steppin on the brake move from P/N/D1 d2 whatever it is... a few times back and forth 6) Now try starting the car like you normally would. 7) hope this works.
