I know that this game is mostly geered toward the younger generations, but anyone else play it? My girlfriend just got a copy, and we spent the entire night sweating our tails off, dancing our hearts out. Such a fun game. I've also heard that many middle and even high schools are using it in gym classes, it's an excellent and fun way to get into shape. Thoughts, experiences?
My girlfriend's a friggin addict, and I think I might be getting that way, too. Just after one night. It's fun to compete on it, as you can exercise together, while competing, which drives one another. I can't wait to hold some kind of a tournament on it.
I think it has been shown to be the most effective way to get people to look stupid in public since the invention of fermentation.
I've thought about doing it, since it sounds like a fun way to exercise (at home, thank you ). But I don't have a game system or anything. What exactly do you need?
I'm Asian, but not as good as my brothers. I can do some "heavy" songs, so I'm working my way up. I've got DDR Extreme, but I'm getting tired of the songs. I thinkg DDR E2 is coming out or is out.
Do not wear your rockets gear when doing this, otherwise you end up like this guy.... http://www.hedonistica.com/media.php?path=/videos/jam_cam.wmv
The worst is seeing the morons who take it seriously and are actually dancing and thinking they look cool. High comedy.
The bare minimum you need is a dance pad ($20 and up), the game, and a PS1. If you get a PS2 instead, you will have more versions of the games to choose from. It is a good workout - and for rhythm-challenged individuals like myself, an endless challenge.
I actually bought an X-box and a dance pad along with ddr 2 specifically to use for exercise. It is a lot of fun, and was going well, until some family emergencies caused us to stop using it. I'm getting ready to bust it out again and start going to town with it. I really do suck at it, but it is a blast. I swear some of the combinations are impossible to actually do. I just don't have that many feet.
You can pick up the game (used) at almost any local gaming store for about 20 bucks. One of the versions of the game, that is... Secondly, we got two dance pads for 17 bucks off ebay. You can find them for pretty cheap on Ebay.
My son used to be addicted to this. We bought him one of the nice dance pads that's built better than a brick sh!thouse. He's 18 now and will occasionally do it.
You could also get everything for free if you have a spare PC around the house. There is open source program called Step Mania that is freely availble. They don't have song packs but those are user and made and are available with a minimal amount of searching. I currently have over 1000 songs to choose from when DDRing so I don't get tired of any of them. I just had a spare PC I plug into my TV, bought some dance pads, and am good to go.
