Yao playing in the Asian games shouldn't be so bad. It's a week of D-rate competition, where Yao will probably play 20 minutes per, with maybe one game where he has to exert himself. I'm just glad that his rehab has allowed him to skip over all of these meaningless tune-up games.

And I really, REALLY hope that he ends up ditching the Shanghai competition as well. We don't need Yao playing in the equivalent of a state YMCA tournament. That would be beyond a waste of time. Last I heard, he has not committed to it yet, so keep your fingers crossed.

It certainly seems like that way. Chinese National Team have just lost to New Zealand by 20 pts and Australia by 40 points. I think the Chinese Basketball Association is starting to become restless and iritated to see Yao sitting on the bench while their national team is getting humiliated.

Yeah they also lost to NZ by like 40 points a few weeks back.

I kind of feel bad for the Lithuanian coach. He probably thought this was a great oppoturnity to work with Yao or something... But he only gets to work with scrubs and gets embarrased himself....

I hope his ankle heals soon, because Yao needs to some explosive leg excercises. He needs the ability to dunk the ball in traffic; he just doesn't have that explosiviness now.

He excercises hard twice a day, and is going to join the team this week, but without body contact perhaps.
Next week, everything will be normal.
There will be 2 warm up games vs. Iceland in 28th, Aug and 30th, Aug. Yao will be definitely on the court, since they are the only games before the Asian championships.
Asian championships will be held in 8th, Sep. I think Yao will play in some important games, such as vs. Iran, South Korea and Lebanon.

    Iceland? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA

i will completley understand if Yao plays like a p***y next year. I mean Iceland is a tough team I hear. No really, I feel real good about Yao rushing to get back to play farking Iceland in farking Quatar. I'm glad they got a chinese dr from china who will clear him to play in time for farking iceland in farking quatar. I can hear the chinese owner and mangagment now, "c'mon doc, we need to get Yao ready in time to play iceland and istanbul in the Qutar championships, this is big"
I guess when you get your ass stomped by NewZealnd you start to really look forward to playing Iceland. Go get them Icelanders Yao. Glad you didn't stay in Houston and go at with the boys at Fonde because now you get to really toughen up your game against farking Iceland in farking quatar.
