In his cousin's footsteps, T-Mac will visit Taiwan in early September

    Peng Rui-Fu (Translated by Lil)
    8/12/2005 23:50

Today (12th) the high-flying NBA star Vince Carter had just arrived in Taiwan when exciting news spread that his dear cousin, also a high-flying veteran, Tracy McGrady will visit Taiwan for the 2nd time on September 1.

T-Mac is contracted under adidas, and visited Taiwan first in 1998, when he left a deep impression with his kind and friendly demeanor and his exceptional basketball skills. This year, T-Mac's Asia tour will include Taiwan once again, and will include even more intimate encounters with his fans, surely to spark yet another T-Mac Mania.

The most highly anticipated portion of the September visit will be a chance for anyone to become a member of Team T-Mac. Starting 8/19, adidas will be holding "T-MAC Team recruiting events" every Friday and Saturday, in famous streetball venues in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung. The events will include the "35 secs 13 pts turnaround" test, the T-Mac basketball technique test, and the T-Mac Biggest Fan party. The most outstanding 12 fans will form T-MAC Team, and will accompany T-Mac on his entire itinerary during his visit. All other participants in the events will have a chance to earn tickets to the main event on 9/2, and will have other opportunities during the event to come on the court to have fun with T-Mac.

For details on events and tickets for T-Mac's Taiwan visit, visit tmac.adidas.com.tw. (Website will be online starting 8/19).

Calm down my Taiwanese friends. Based on my experience, these NBA stars promo activities suck. You are not really getting that much, and they are mostly just all business. If you live in Houston, go to the Rockets games. Watching TMac does his thing on the court beats watching him answer nonsense questions from reporters any day.

Back in June, there was this NBA madness event that stopped by Taipei for 3 days. Richard Jefferson, Dwight Howard, Luke Walton, and Cluch+Rocket Power Dancers were all there. I met all of them and got all of their autographs (I even got to talk to Dwight Howard's parents). I also got a bunch of free giveaways that they were handing out. I thought it was pretty cool, the actual show they put on was entertaining too.

Taipei is a pretty nice place once you get past all the traffic problems. It seems like every person there wants to drive their own big car rather than use the readily available mass transit.

You are so right on the traffic. For other reasons, Taipei isn't my favorite place in Asia. superden, the food in Hong Kong blows away Taipei.

T-Mac will be here in Beaumont's Montagne Center, on the Lamar University campus, at 4 PM this coming Saturday. Apparently it's gonna be an exhibition with NBA players vs Hot Sauce and the And 1 gang. My boys and I are holding our collective breath, hoping everyone shows as advertised.
