Yeah, I saw that episode and Lupica put him in his place pretty quickly.

One and only time SAS was on the sports reporters....

    Is that even English?

How would know? You haven't even read any of his articles, so how would you deduce this?

And, sorry "FlyerFanatic," as far as I know you've never played a game in the NBA -- so welcome to my ignore list.

I mean, how could begin to try and act like an analyst, and why should I pay attention to your posts on an NBA message board? Why should we take your opinions on the game seriously? You never played a minute!

Well, Sean's way off. WAY off. SAS is like he is on TV, non-stop, and he never lets up.

And I actually like the guy's print work.

I can count to ten, so I obviously can't stand him on TV, but his work in Philly is solid. And I also used to like him on CNN's "Inside the NBA" show during the lockout year (Sunday nights, 11:30), but only on a "what the hell is this guy on about?" level.

Also, pgabriel. It's "Elie." El-ie. Mario f!ckin' Elie.

It should be noted that my best friend's grandfather actually coached SAS in college, but for some reason, this hasn't changed my opinion of him one bit.

Yes, it was also the very same day he said the classic "but I regress".

I posted about that here the day it happened.

Lupica called him on that too!

Leave it to SAS to turn Mike Lupica into the conquering hero.

Watched the Larry Brown interview. Pretty horrible.

Even the crowd was out of it, in awkward silence most of the time as they tried to figure out when to laugh/respond.

Not to slam SAS, but who would want to sit in the audience for an interview with a coach or athlete?

I watched that episode and don't think anyone called out SAS for his 3rd down football take that show. I remember because I almost threw something at the tv because no one said anything. Then Smith used his "I regress" line and Lupica corrected him, finally.

Okay, not bringing this thread up to keep arguing, just FYI, Casserly's on there right now, with T.O.'s agent and Lee Steinberg, pretty interesting conversation on agents.

I have to say this is a pretty damn good episode. SAS isn't afraid to call out his guest, which makes for some great interviews. Rosenhaus almost lost it for a sec :D

    The viewers have spoken:

Huh? ESPN ombudsman George Solomon, in his latest espn.com column, is emphatic: "Make no mistake: Stephen A. Smith has arrived."

Really? So far, Smith's much-hyped new Quite Frankly ESPN2 show is averaging 0.2% of U.S. cable TV households — down from the 0.3% that ESPN2 had averaged in the same time slot while showing a hodgepodge of stuff. But Solomon, whose columns are billed as "independent analysis," also writes, "I'm not going to consider ratings here." One needn't survey the rabble when anointing arrivistes.

This week ESPN debuts their new show "ESPN Hollywood". I think it comes on around 2pm.
