    interesting question.

we used to hear lots of these but replace Tmac w/ Kobe.
in this situation I do think Jordan would have taken over this series and been unstoppable on both ends of the floor.

I dont think he could have a championship but he would have taken us further than TMac. Tmac is an awesome player but Jordan was a leader and Tmac seems to be learning so that is always hopeful.

its kind of like the question someone asked a few weeks back. Will we ever win a championship w/ Tmac as our best player? It was pretty mixed but it seemed alot of people agreed that we wont win a championship unless Yao steps up to become our best player and one of the top players in the league.

    No. Jordan cannot gurd Dirk.

Yes, Jordan would have fouled out Dirk, Terry and gang because the refs will call a foul on anyone who dares to come into contact with His Airness, even when said contact was initiated by said Airness.

    Take your pick.

I wish Yao could learn that skill or build that type of relationship!

I totally agreed with you. The kind of respect Jordan gets from the ref, it's unprecedented. Jordan would have detroyed Dallas all by himself.

Jordan won't win the 40 points' blow out game. But I guess he'd win one of the other three games and finish the series in six.

Jordan at his peak, with this roster, would have won it all. Do you guys remember how unbelievable he was?

O.K, I will admit the obvious, TMac, at present, is not equal to the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan. But TMac's career is not over yet. I love TMac's game, but I doubt he will ever equal Jordan (maybe no one ever will), but I think he is headed for the Hall of Fame and may win a championship or two. TMac is an incredible player, one of the greats. Jordan is in a league by himself. He was the total package. Who will challenge his record, probably not even Kobe even though he has won several championships.

At the end of his career he did. Look at how his FG% drops from his early days, and Jordan was a much better long distance shooter later in his career.

on the one hand i can't imagine jordan losing that series in his prime because of who he is, but on the other hand t-mac was unbelieveable against dallas and was unquestionably the bset player in the playoffs at that point.

well, its a nonsensical thread, which even you alluded to. however, i like nonsensical threads and questions, and believe it or not, it really didnt take alot of "time". its michael jordan. i love t-mac, but he's not on that level and probably never will be. and thats not an insult to t-mac as much as a testament to how incredibly bad-ass jordan was.

the word "stupid" never appears in my post and ill reply to any thread i want to in a public forum, thank you.

Just out of curiosity I looked this up. MJ won his first playoff series at age 24 - he didn't win his first best of 7 playoff series till 25.This somewhat alters the case against TMac- his team theoretically would have won the best of five format first round in 02/03 (He was 23).

TMac will be 26 this year. Granted, he got an earlier start than MJ and is already behind, but he's not too far behind.

Jeff is right about comparing Jordan to T-Mac right now at the same age. Jordan might have had more playoff wins, not as good as an outside shot and didn't have T-Mac's wingspan or height.

It's going to take a year or two of getting the right players around he and Yao to really win it all, but I don't think Jordan beats Dallas last year in today's NBA nor do I think he could have guarded Nowitski the way T-Mac did. And Jordan was one of the greatest defensive players in NBA history.

'Tis a nice offseason romp, and it reminds me that our future still looks great and that no one really wants to play us even now. Good times.

Without a doubt Jordan is the best ever, but tmac can achieve that status in todays league. Will he be as good as jordan was? No way, but he can be the best in todays "soft" league. A true testament to Jordan was the better players of his era (atleast in my opinion, except for maybe shaq who was unstoppable, maybe still is?). Tmac will do extremely well and can be the best nba player of this era, but he will never be the best ever.
