http://www.journaltimes.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=1665 Four years, $16 million. Seems reasonable given that he was a highly touted free agent, and that the Hawks have to add a large chunk of salary just to meet the NBA minimum payroll. But why was he getting so much hype? I know he's young and all, but is he anything more than a big guy that throws his elbows around?
I just cannot comprehend why they didn't take Paul at number 2. They need to have their Insider subscription cancelled immediately.
I agree. Marvin Williams doesn't impress me. Chris Paul will definitely be a player in the NBA. Williams isn't motivated enough for my taste. He needs a kick.
Pachulia's a good buy at that price. If he doesn't get any better than he is right now then he's not overpaid much given the center market and since he's only 20 he'll probably get better (maybe even a lot better). He's a high effort guy. Say what you will about the other Hawk's moves, but Zaza is a good sign.
I loved how 610 played this on the update this morning. "The balance of power in the East has shifted as the Hawks land Zaza Pachulia." He delivered it with such a straight tone that you had to be really quick to catch it. I'm sure it probably left more than one commuter so befuddled as to who Zaza was that they nearly drifted into the car in the other lane. I totally agree Kenny, the Hawks are looking like total ass-hats for drafting Williams. This means they are now going to have a 3/4 (Harrington) stretching to play 4, a 2/3 (Childress) stretching to play 2, and a 1.5/2 (Johnson) stretching to play point. Not to mention the fact that Williams will probably be forced into the 4. Congratufreakinglations Atlanta, you're the reason Isiah has to get up early every morning to defend his crown as the biggest punchline in the NBA.
It's worse than that. Joe Johnson isn't even a given. The Hawks look like intergalactic d!ck$ with their ownership squabble over JJ. THAT'S a joke they don't want told at parties. They were already a horrific franchise. Now they have a decision-by-committee screwing things up (I do agree a bit that Atlanta's giving up a lot to get JJ, but at least they could build around him). As if free agents didn't want to sign there before. JJ was the exception. I wonder if his ego is still calling the shots on this; oh, to be The Man on the Hawks. That would be The Only Man, because NO ONE, NO ONE wants to be a Hawk.
