Before bashing this trade proposal think about it and respond accordingly. The Rockets will package expiring contracts in (Baker,Weatherspoon,Wesley) along with Mike James and Ward who both have a year after this...for Jalen Rose and Morris Peterson. The Reason for the raptors is that they are obviously in the rebuilding process around Bosh and we will give them the money they need to rebuild in a hurry. In return we will get a Willy VET in Jalen Rose, a seasoned professional who i believe is ready to win, and Morris peterson who will be that all to important swingman we need to come in off the bench ala cuttino in is early days. The Raptors will be off to a fresh start and we will be ready to contend for the western conference championship and a birth in the finals to Face Van Gundy Shaq Wade Walker, Willams. Oh what a finals it would be. On a side note Rose could always move to pg to rest sura.

    Ming/Mutombo
    Swift/JH/Baxter
    Mcgrady/Peterson/Bowen
    Rose/Barry
    Sura/Head/Norris

    VS.
    Shaq/Mouring
    Haslem/Lattner
    Walker/Posey
    Wade/Butler
    Williams/Jones

    Jalen Rose is a punk.
Anyone with knowlege of Rockets history, i.e. the Mario Elie days, should be against any trade involving Jalen Rose.

I don't like it. I think some people on this board are very inappreciative of Mike James and what he does. Considering he comes off the bench, this guy is a STUD!! He can create off of the dribble, he can shoot, he's a poor man's Steve Francis really, with less turnovers. We NEED Mike James.

The trade I worked out with the Raptors on RealGM was this:

    David Wesley
    Vin Baker

    for

    Rafer Alston
    Morris Peterson

We get a tall 2-guard and a pass first (but very able to shoot) point guard. Raptors recieve 2 expiring contracts for use at the trading deadline, or just for cap space at the season's end. It helps the situation that Rafer has not been 100% happy north of the border.

I agree with this trade idea. Here is why:

    1) While Jalen Rose has shown a propensity for immurturity he also possesses unique talents that would benefit the Rockets greatly. (i.e. scoring, passing, and rebounding from the guard position)

    2) Morris Peterson would also upgrade our backup 2/3 position and would be another solid shooter and high flyer to play along with McGrady and Swift.

The real issue is that I do not see Raptors taking so much of our garbage (Baker and Weatherspoon) in a deal.

Didn't Hakeem punch somebody? Can't judge someone on something that happened years ago.

    110% for this trade.

Jalen is right, right now, for the this team as a third star with JVG to get him playing D, if he buys in. Mo Pete is just the right guy to sub out for more defense.

Hakeem comletely changed his way of life.
Rose never even said he was sorry. He never atoned. Elie was having what could have been his best year and Rose's cheap foul almost ruined him forever.

With our six contracts that are ending, we can trade for Shaq with his new contract. We add in 7 first rounders and a case of beer and here is our lineup.

    Sura
    McGrady
    Swift
    Shaq
    Yao

I worked it out on Real GM. Make it happen CD

I really don't think that is best for the Rockets. Tracy and Yao are obviously the 2 players for this team and adding Shaq will only stunt the growth of Yao Ming. Shaq is also over the hill and would not help the team in the long run. Geez Mav Hater YOU my friend are the one posting ridiculous stuff. If we offered that to Miami the Heat would do it as fast as Shaq runs up and down the court

Only if they will throw in Dwyane Wade to sweeten the deal.

Sign me up for this trade!

    1) Rose brings that "pit bull" mentality that JVG likes in players. He has a HUGE contract but is only for 2 seasons. If Les can bite his lip on that deal then good. The problem is at this stage of his career Rose is more of a 3 than a 2. So that means Tmac has to play more 2 on defense. Nevertheless, Rose would bring the Rockets another ball handler and a legit 3rd scorer. The Rockets might be risking their good chemistry here. So that is worth noting.

    2) Mo Peterson is a guy I have mentioned a number of times on this board. I think he would be a perfect fit on this team. He has nice size to play the 2/3 position. He is a good perimeter defender, good 3pt shooter and is a solid role player. I dont see him rocking the boat any. Mo also is the same age as Tmac/Swift/Yao so he would be a core guy that could grow with the team which to me a is a big plus.

Did he say trade our expiring contracts for Shaq or anyone near him? Are we talking about a superstar here? No and no. The Raptors have probably been trying to get rid of Rose for almost a year now, mostly because his contract sticks out like a sore thumb.

If you had a cancer like him on your teamwith a history of health problems and had a hideously expensive contract with multiple years on it, and somebody offered you expiring contracts for him, wouldn't you do it? I know the Hornets did it with Baron Davis, who is 5 times the player Jalen Rose will ever be at this point in there careers. If you don't think its fair for the Raptors - come up with a good reason instead of being sarcastic.

I could se why the Rockets wouldn't do it - Jalen Rose shoots way to much and always wants to handle the ball. He doesn't play defense, so he probably wouldn't get a lot of playing time from JVG. I'm sure the Rockets explored this option already, but think they can get a better fit for all of our expiring contracts.

Jalen would not shoot too much on this team. And a lineup featuring him at the 1, MoPete at the 2, TMac at the 3, and Swift at the 4......would be freakishly long. And Jalen has a better chance of effectively defending 1s because of his size than 2s or 3s. Yes, he has sucked as a defender but you can see that he has the talent and ability to be a good defender. He would be another case like Darius Miles. A good defensive coach and an already established playoff and contending team would turn his career around I do believe. However, his contract is monstrous.....worse than Miles. If we traded for him and MoPete and didn't win it all, it would be disasterous.
