I don't know what the hell I just saw.

It's 12:15am here in Austin on Easter Sunday... after the Rockets game, my wife and I started watching "Men of Honor". There's a big window to the left of our TV...

Right in the middle of the movie, just out of nowhere, this huge flash of light blazes in the sky over our neighbor's house. I mean we just happened to be in the one spot where we could see this...

I just blurted out, "What the hell was that?", wondering if my wife saw the same thing. She did see it, and was blown away as well.

I honestly thought it was a burning plane about to crash -- that's exactly what it looked like to me. It had an orange-reddish glow to it. I ran to the front door and went outside and there was nothing. No clouds, no noise... nothing at all.

Anyone know a logical explanation for something like that? Weather causing a visual like that? A comet? I don't think there was any shot of it being a shooting star.... seemed too close.

A lightning ball? What the hell is that???

    I think it could be:
    1, a static discharge
    2, a UFO
3, your neighbor was taking a picture with a REALLY REALLY big flash on it.

The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?

Dayum! I dont think Austin is anywhere close to any swamps. I have heard that swamp gas and lighting can sometimes do wierd things. I think. But anyways I have seen a UFO before. And now I am thinking you might have too. Do you think your neighbors might have been doing something fishy? Was it right above the house or was it like way up in the sky?

What was your wife doing while the videotape was playing?

I've seen bright flashes and images of exploding rockets while watching videotapes with heyschweetie, too. Weird stuff, man!

Friction between the molecules of polluted Texas air allowed a lightning bolt to act as a catalyst, causing an exothermic reaction. This reaction would have appeared as a brilliant flash, as the molecules of various pollutants released the energy from the system.

Funny enough, it's a weather event called "ball lightning". Although I have no idea if that's what Clutch saw.

I think it was Aurora Borealis.

Chalmers: Good Lord, what is happening in there?

    Skinner: Aurora Borealis?

Chalmers: Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? A this time of day? In this part of the country? Localized entirely within your kitchen?

    Skinner: Yes.

    Chalmers: May I see it?

    Skinner: Oh, uhh... No.

I think you should see a doctor.

And it sounds like your wife is codependent.

Cato came to play last night. What you saw was heat escaping from Hell as it began to freeze over.

ok not likrly Ball lightning. I have seen ball lightning with my own exys. I lived in 2 different houses that were hit by lightning. there first needs to be a lightning strike for there to be balllightning. since Clutch mentioned that there was no noise, it was nit lightning.
Aurora Borealis is also not the answer. firts of all this is a Phenomena that is VARRY hard to se in southern latitudes. also it is usually not verry bright, and certainly not explosive. the lights from the City would surely obscure it. I have only seen northern lights twice here on LI, but when I lived 450 miles norts of here near canada, we cound see them fairly often. thats why they are called NORTHERN lights [IMG]

a plane crash is I suppose feasable, but no explosion is fishy.
A meteor is a possibility. any time something falls through our atmosphere there is tremendous amounts of light/heat energy released. when you see a shooting star, its is actualty a particle the size of a grai of sand being burnt to nothing. id an object the size of a baseball comes through the atmospgere ther is QUITE a light show. larger meteors often have some popping and hissing noises associated with them however you would net be able to hear them in a city, or inside your house. I have only heard the popping/hissing out in the middle of nowhere and listened closely. you would NOT hear a meteor hit the ground either. NOTE: if the meteor was large enough to make it to earth, they are EXTREMELY valuable to museums. about $1000/pound or more.
when Iceballs(comets) come throught the atmosphere they tend to explode before hitting ground(if large enough) the light emited will more often be blue(due to methane content) and there would more likely be a BOOM associated wioth it. but I suppose if it were a small one you might not hear it. In Siberia about 100 years ago there weas a comet that flattened hundreds of thousands of acres. this was a comet that exploded. it was however heard in NY

    UFO, sure why not.

    Militay black project, sure

another note. there were MASSIVE solar flares recently, so who knows what effects they may have on what you saw. they can interupt cell phones and TV, so why not something visable.

well thats enough MR. science for now.

    PEACE
