The family and I were set to move out of our house this coming weekend. Unfortunately, I got a call this morning from the movers I hired and they said they couldn't make it due to their truck having been in a wreck yesterday. I made some calls this morning, and so far, the 10 companies Ive called said they are already booked up for this weekend. Alas, I decided to rent a bobtailand do the move myself. However, I need some "muscle for hire". I need two helpers for Sat afternoon and Sunday morning and I am willing to pay decent money ($15/hr.). If any of you are college students loooking for some extra cash, or gamely employed and always looking for extra cash anyway, please email me at chrodell@earthlink.net. Thanks!! btw ...as incentive, there will be an offer of a free lunch and beer after we are done
Sorry to hear that. Sadly they are probably lying and are really doing a bigger job that pays better. I got put off an entire week last year by a local company in Tucson to unload the ABF trailer I had parked on the street. I now work for a United Van Line agent and if we have a truck in a wreck, we will rent a truck to keep our move date.
Thats what I suggested, but they said I would have to pay the rental. Being in the insurance business, I told him that they were pretty stupid not to have loss of use on their policy for situations like this.
Have you thought about hiring a couple of day laborers? They'll work for less than $15/hr, that's for sure. Just go grab them off the street corner on Shepherd up there.
hmm, dont do that, the militia men will get ya' actually i have a pleasant day laborer cleaning my house at the moment for $8/hr
I cant imagine people on this BBS would not be willing to help someone move for free - less some beer and lunch.
One of my friends had committed to helping a bit, and seeing as how he is a federal agent on the border, I don't want to create ....ummmm ...a conflict of interest by possibly hiring illegals. Anyway, money is not a prob and Id rather help out some cash starved posters here on the BBS.
That sucks...Moving sucks...I've moved way to much in the past couple of years (5 times)...My dad and I always do it, but we always say next time, we're hiring someone...I'm helping my g/f move in Dallas in early sept., but it won't be bad as its a one bedroom apt...
Hmm, tempting. I'll have to see how my weekend shapes up. Is there particular time you need an answer by?
Good luck with that - if it came down to it, I'd hire a day laborer myself and bring him down to help a friend sooner than I'd help someone move all day. The money isn't worth what it does to my knees and back. We hired some guys when we moved out of our 3rd story apartment, and it was well worth it.
C, Im not available Sat(its my anniversary), but if you need help Sun...just let me know man...and forget the frikkin money...you know you aint gotta pay me...I owe ya that much at least.
