I just found out through my mom that my birth certificate and social security card may have been stolen in the last year or so. What am I to do if they ARE indeed stolen?
First thing I'd do is run a credit report... if nothing has shown up you might be safe it it's been a year. Check for any new accounts and check for any credit inquiries that you didn't authorize. Getting your SS# changed is a huge pain, hopefully you're alright.
[thick austrian accent]You haf been ewraized.[/thick austrian accent] seriously: http://www.ssa.gov/onlineservices/
Immediately put a fraud alert on your credit will all three credit agencies. Run full credit reports with all of them...make sure there aren't any credit cards, mortgages, loans, ect out there with your name on them that aren't actually yours. Keep the fraud alert on the credit reports...they will have to contact YOU for authorization of credit.
ya, i just had that done on my credit, had my ssn, license, and my credits jacked get a police report, it will help put a credit alert on your credit. and if you alert one credit agency, the other 2 will be notified automatically.
i have somebodys drivers license number, home phone number, signature, i just need their ss to jack them up.
