Is moving T-Mac back to SG an option?

Now I know that JJ was traded partly so T-Mac could move to the SF position. But I'm not sure how firmly he is locked in there. If he is willing to move back, that could open some more options for us. The idea that intrigues me the most would be Mike James for Al Harrington. Atlanta is shopping him and still needs a PG. Harrington is tough, could be our 3rd scoring option, and can rebound well. I'm no expert by any means on salaries or anything so I have no idea what would have to happen to make it possible.

Nah...TMac excelled too well to move him back to SG. There is no need for TMac to run around and guard shooting guards when he can guard small fowards much better. It's just a matter of energy, no point for TMac to exert energy guarding quick guards when someone else can do it.

I think the Rockets are more in need of a swingman 2/3 type player. Al Harrington's a big SF in the 3/4 mold.

Regardless of what role McGrady plays on offense, he shouldn't waste too much of his energy chasing around smaller shooting guards on defense. He'll be guarding the opposing SF. Therefore, the other swingman on our offense would have to switch and guard the opposing SG. Harrington's a bit too big to guard smaller guards.

TMac pretty much plays 3 positions out there at any given time. I don't think is actually a sf, sg, or pg. He is all 3.

I think he can. It would be ideal to have another SF that can play SG, so they can switch back and forth as needed. But, even with a big SF, I think it's doable. JVG has said SG and SF are interchangeable to him. On defense, he can probably hang with most SGs -- and create a hell of a mismatch on the other end. He's going to have more help on the roster this year, so I think his workload will be going down anyway.

Al Harrington was discussed not long ago. I think JV pretty much covered it above. If we had gotten Simmons, T-Mac probably would have been the SG in name. To me, it's about getting the right player next to T-Mac, whether it's SG or SF. Harrington is definitely not that player, IMO.

T-Mac is a natrual SF. This is why we traded JJ away last year to make room to T-Mac at the SF spot. I don't see JVG moving him back.

What about James Posey? I always thought he would be a perfect fit with T-Mac. He only makes about 5.6 a year. He has two years left on his deal. I would send Wesly + a 1st round pick for him. Think about it.. we wouldn't need our first round pick next year anyway and @ 5.6, I think he would be coming cheap.

funny thing is....alot of folks around here thought that was more than Posey was worth.

I wouldnt be adverse to what you suggest...I just doubt Posey is available.
It's bad enough that we snagged Swift from them, he will more than likely make us a lot better...but for MEM to actually work with us getting a piece that could complete our needs is very unlikely imo.

Sure, why not. If they get a good SF, T-Mac will move back to SG. I don't see us getting a good SF though. Only possibilty I see is Darius Miles.
