Good point but most interviewers would say something like "well, I know you can't talk about it but...." and then go on with a question. Oh well. I guess I'm just grumpy because I'm itching for the season to start. I wish they would have done the whole hour with him.

I thought it was funny when he said Roger threw at his head. I'll bet he really did. Did TMac play baseball in high school?

No one else caught "We're gonna bring the old vets back"...it was said after they he mentioned the lineup getting younger with the addition of luther head and stro. I think we're bringing back JB and Deke

I mentioned it in the article, but he actually said, "we're bringing a lot of veteran guys back". It's the 8:13 mark of droxford's audio file.

BTW, thanks droxford - that really helped me go back and clean up a few of the quotes. I was typing as fast as I could :)

Yah, Granato was horrible. I have been listening to the morning guys forever now, and Lance & Granato work well together, and have done some great interviews in the past, so this was really unusual for him to have such a bad interview.

Oh, well, was Lance not in today or what? I think John is just not used to doing it alone, Lance is a bit more spontaneous than John, he is funnier too, John tries to get along with that "Italian" thing, but he doesn't have much substance really, Lance is better. Together they are pretty good and entertaining.

Lance is on vacation this week, leaving John all alone.. that's bad news for the listeners, because Granato is just lost when he is alone.. when I started listening this morning on the way to work, he kept going on and on about how Lance Armstrong is not really all that great of an athlete..????

Come on Granato, stop trying to be 'provocative' and just talk about sports for crying out loud.

Lance alone is pretty good, but it's hard to ask anyone to do a 4 hour show for more than a week. Granato and Lance together are great. Granato alone on the other hand, he's ok, but well, it's only a week :)

Some days John and Lance make me laugh and other days they try to hard and sound like idiots. Sometimes Lance laughs like a little girl.

They're better than the ESPN morning show though that's not saying much.

Ha, I heard that too. That's the ol' tried and true "say something provacative because we only have 1 caller on hold" technique. You hear it a lot on talk radio...

Thank you, Clutch, for changing the front page and reporting on the TMac radio interview. It was so good to get some news, any news. The Swift deal got me all excited then Rocket's news completely dried up. Like most of you guys, I am a Rocket's nut and the season is not long enough. It is hard to take this heat and have no Rockets as well. Will the Fall start soon?

Yeah I can't stand those two doofuses on the sports gerr-animal. They are truly annoying. At least when Lance and John get annoying they are still acting like goofballs and cutting up a bit...

790 owns 610.. Mike and Mike and CP clean the floor with everyone else that 610 throws their way.. Rome is the only thing that I THINK keeps them going, well that and they do the local sports games...

These sound clips just go to show that ALL radio morning shows suck. ALL of them. Thank God T-Mac at least wasn't on some crap like Walton and Johnson.

610 does a great job with their game broadcasts but the only jocks they have that I can stand are Matt and Adam.
EDIT: Perhaps I was too harsh... I do always enjoy the Jeff Van Gundy show and I liked listening to Jon Barry's call-ins, too. I suppose the show isn't totally worthless. Lance and John still aren't exactly a favorite of mine, however.

It is interesting to see how vastly different peoples' tastes are. Personally, in my opinion, there is no bigger idiot in all of radio than charlie pallillo. He is the poster child for 'People Who Think They Are Funny But Are Not'. Geez, I had never heard two guys more amused by themselves than rich and charlie, and neither of them are actually funny or clever, which made their arrogant shtick that much worse. I have not listened to the espn morning show, so I cannot compare them to John and Lance.

However, I used to like Rich Lord and Kenny Hand when they were together. But then the station dumped Hand and picked up Pallillo (because the 'other' station dumped him - HELLO??), and suddenly those two guys turned into the biggest jerks ever. I was relieved when charlie split for the other station, and adding MV in the afternoon is a good move, but Rich is just the least-informed embarrassment in sports radio. Hell, the guy doesn't even talk about SPORTS 80% of the time! I mean, who gives a rat's behind about what movies or music the guy likes? Ugh.

Hopefully the afternoon housecleaning continues, and they can move Adam Wexler back into a respectable time slot with Mark.. that would be an actual SPORTS talk show, with some guys who are actually informed about HOUSTON sports.. we really don't care about the Yankees here, nor do we care about hockey, which leaves rich lord out in the cold on both of his specialities.

Charlie Palillo is a very smart guy, but he likes to hear himself talk. Seems like every time a caller brings up a new subject, Charlie must take his mandatory 30-40 seconds making a comment on the subject before allowing the caller to finally chime in. He also disgresses way too much, cutting the callers off in the process no matter how good a point they are making. Charlie could be a great host but he is too full of himself and too much of a smart aleck. If he would just talk a lot less and let the listeners do more talking, he would be bearable and blow the 610 guys away. It wouldn't be close.

I don't like any of the local guys very much and switch back and forth constantly based on their subject matter. If one station starts talking about the Rockets, obviously I keep it there.

Letting the listeners do much of the talking is a bad, bad idea.

But yeah...Granato needs Lance back, or at least some help.
