If you go to www.stellasoleil.com, press the graphic that says "Enter Site", and you have the Flash plug-in installed, you'll hear a song playing in the background. The name of the song is "Kiss Kiss". I'm trying to find the name of the guy (I think it was a guy) that originally sang that song. Here's the kicker... the original song was actually written in some Middle Eastern language (it wasn't sung in English). It's popular overseas on dance charts, but I have no clue as to who sang the original... This is to settle a debate with someone that Stella Soleil's version is not the original. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? no luck yet, but I like the artist . . . she's got a kindof Madonna thing going on . . . ------------------ "Up and down, inside out, outside in, some you lose some you win" -- DMB -> "Sweet Up and Down"
I don't know anything about the song but I did learn of a fight between her and a webmaster. So thanks for leading me to useless gossip Dod. ------------------ Ceo of the Walt Williams and Lisa Malosky fan club. atheistalliance.org
One thing I found out about her on another page is that Hype Williams is helping do the video for "Kiss Kiss" and that TONY BASIL is doing the choreography for it. lol. Talk about a blast from the past. I didn't even know she was still doing anything. Anyway, I like her voice... she's apparently done vocals for other industrial groups. Grrr... waiting for the 5/22 release date. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? Toni Basil does choreography for a ton of videos. She is actually a pretty sought after choreogropher believe it or not! That has always been her main gig. "Mickey" was just an aside for her. She orignially was an actress appearing in Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces back in the 60's. I believe she has won a couple of Tony awards as well for her work on Broadway. ------------------ And then, depression set in...
I think the original version is turkish (but dont quote me on it), and I know I've heard it, but dont know the artist. ------------------ We can reach our destination, but it's still a ways away.
DoD, you might want to back off that bet. Stella Katsoudas hangs out with some very creative company, beginning with Peter Gabriel. Expecting that background music to originate *directly* from a Middle Eastern song is like expecting none of Deep Forest music to be original. This bet will ultimately be answered by album credits, if you are talking about a re-make based of an original music track. Call a radio station for album credit info. The web is not giving me any. If you are talking about borrowing from other influences, the bet was made on grounds impossible to arbitrate.
The original is done by a band called Turkan. Found it on Napster. ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
I think that DoD is right here. Ah, ok my belief that DoD is right is close to 100% as I've heard the other version as I think is turkish. That song was in the chart all over europe last year I think. DoD is also right in that the original was male, as I think it was a male turkish duo that had that song. But then again from only hearing the song on the radio/TV (its identic, only in turkish or something simular) I could still be partly wrong. ------------------ We can reach our destination, but it's still a ways away.
Bobo is right. That's the song. And I don't know if the translation is 1-to-1, but the music is the same down to the "kiss kiss" thing they both do during the song. WOOO HOOOOOOO! I win. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? I say give me something intelligent to respond to." -- Dimwits beware, B-Ball freak tells it like it is. Sing it bro!
