He's just making several bets just to insure he will at least win one. As for post counts, it lets newbies know who is somewhat more important than others. I only read about 20% of the board (most of it BBS Hangout) As for Game Action threads, I would be here all day reading about peoples not-so-sharp thoughts. If I was a newbie, i would hate to read everyones thread and try to figure out who knew what they were talking about and who didn't. I think the peer pressure works good, as long as there is a good example set. All the '...b****...' threads were kind of annoying and makes the BBS look bad, not so much as it offends me. ------------------ Nice guys finish last ... and im surely not going to finish last!
well, Space Ghost, if I lose just one of my bets, I lose my bbs moniker and all the posting history that goes with it. maybe I'm making a butch of bets in a self-policing manner to throw monikers and post counts to the test, and want to take down as many as I can in one full sweep. Bet me...you chicken butts...or do your post counts and monikers mean to much to your bbs personality!!!!!!!!

kbm is a whiny b****. I think the board is fine, nothing's perfect. I just wish people would realize when people start new topics out of jest because every other thread in the Hangout turned into that topic. One thing that could be done to eliminate those annoying "whiny b****" free posts would be to set up a filter to eliminate posts of 3 words of less. ------------------ Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.

Since HeyPee asked for an answer to this thread, here goes. So far, the current system seems to work pretty well. I do not like the insults and name calling. I have the urge to do that all the time, but if I did, I don't think the majority would appreciate it. It's not cool and definately hurts the bbs in general. Banning is an effective tool. It gets a person's attention. Clutch usually lets a poster come back under a new user name. If they are stupid enough to continue the bad behavior, they get banned again. Sometimes Clutch gives multiple chances. Anyone that gets more than a second chance can only blame themselves if they blow it again. I couldn't care less about post counts. IMHO it means nothing. Some posters with very high post counts got them by posting pure pablum. Others got them with a combination of great posts and pablum. (Don't worry, I won't mention any names, HeyPee) Other guys post very little, but I enjoy their posts very much. ------------------
I think everything's going well. There's really not that much wrong with the board today. Everything seems pretty well-run as it is. There are times when people I think post crap threads on the board in multiple forums and it takes a while before they're caught. That gets annoying, but then I guess the admins can't monitor the board 24 hours, so it's to be expected. So here are my responses : 1. Shut up heypartner, Behad and mango, Clutch has it under control, Yes. I agree. 2. Absolute Freedom of posting Absolutely not. Freedom of speech is one thing, but this would be insane. 3. Anything goes except childish cursing No. An accomplished troll doesn't need to curse. 4. Cursing and insults don't bother me as long as no new threads to express it like at the Oregonian No. You shouldn't have to curse, but a few insults... eeeh... well, ok, I can restrain, so this is a definite "disagree". 5. Self-policing and peer pressure is effective, because even if the policers get tiresome, we can get them to stop. This can work in combination with active moderators, so I kinda like this one, too. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? In response to Query #1. Does Clutch have it under control because most of the posters are adult enough to do the right thing (with an occassional nudge from their peer group)? Why are we doing the right things instead of the wrong things like the people at this BBS: http://www.oregonlive.com/forums/blazers/ Is it because the moderators/Admins are more vigilant here and people know that they are more likely to get yanked for geting out of line? Or is it because they sense a higher quality game and know they must raise their own to keep up? My usuage of game means the situation/arena/environment that you are in at the moment.
