Feel free. However, everyone does not have to agree with you.

You are so right ...the Rockets have been one of the most loyal teams to its players and coachs ...This is 1 of the reasons players want to come here and play for the Rocks...I see where alot of people here think P Jackson is a great coach ... i belive he has played his cards alot like Brown and you will see the true coach he is next year with only 1 stud in his barn ...LA wins 10 more games than last yr

Emphasis on "have been." Unfortunately, Le$ has decided he would rather be George Steinbrenner.

You mention loyalty and suggest Larry Brown, the human vagabond? Cripes.

I've lost count, how many GMs/(Primary personnel guys) have served under Alexander? And how many coaches? Can you give me a comparison to how that ranks around the league?

    Thanks in advance.

    (1) I didn't suggest Larry Brown, just pointed out that he is a better coach than Jeff Van Gundy.

    (2) Ask Calvin Murphy how he feels concerning the "loyalty" of Le$ Alexander.

ask Calvin Murhpy's kids about his loyalty to them.

C'mon man. I should know better than to argue with someone who doesn't have a point, but at least try to throw a decent argument out there.

A "loyal" owner does not treat a forty-year employee the way Murphy was treated.

The loyalty thing is just a sidebar anyway. The point is that Le$ wants the best coach available, and Larry Brown is a better coach than Jeff Van Gundy. He doesn't want to be here, but at the very least, Brown should be approached.

Larry Brown is not a better coach for this team than Jeff Van Gundy is - at least we can count on JVG for more than two seasons and then an acrimonious departure. When you're trying to build around young players, it is not wise to keep changing your coaching staff and continually asking the players to adapt to a new situation - something that Larry Brown would've brought to this team when he leaves after a couple years.

What are their career winning percentages again?

While you're at it, will you please go find out how many people have headed the front office under Les, and how many coaches he's had, like I asked?

    Thanks again.

Actually, history supports exactly what I said - that Brown is a vagabond and the harm multiple coaches can cause a young players career and that our two key players are indeed young.

Who has more professional championships as a head coach again?
Who is in the basketball hall of fame again?
Who has the better playoff winning percentage again?

While you are at it, what other NBA owner has fired two high-profile 30+ year employees in the last four years?

The Detroit Pistons rebuilt, going from 30-52 to two 50-32 seasons (EC appearance) to two 54-28 seasons (two Finals appearances, one championship) under three different head coaches.

The Detroit Pistons also had a massive overhaul of their roster to create that championship team - they did NOT have a set of franchise players that they were building around. It was not harmful to change - it would be for us - unless you plan to trade McGrady or Yao in the near future. See the difference? I thought I'd quite clearly laid it out in the first post - it's the part you snipped out from in front of that quote of mine.

    Geez dude.

A.) The Calvin Murphy situation has zero to do with the on court product. Zero.
B.) As sad as it is, Rudy's unceremonious exit from LA pretty much showed Les, CD, and co. made the right move. Van Gundy is consistently improving this team - his players buy into him (something that was not the case for Carlisle), and his team won more games in both the regular season and the playoffs than they did before.

Go lament Seattle allowing Nate McMillan to leave, or something.

The Calvin Murphy situation has everything to do with the way Le$ Alexander disregards service to the organization.

Remove loyalty from the equation, and the Rockets should go after, and hire (if possible) the best available head coach. That guy was Phil Jackson, and is currently Larry Brown.

edc, why don't you give it a rest. jvg ain't going anywhere. he's a great coach and has us going in the right direction. he'll get his ring and it will be as head coach of the houston rockets. will you be upset when that happens?
