Damn, only 10:30 and I'm already thinking about lunch. Of all these places, non chain, Sweet Mesquite is the only one near my office. So I may check that out today.
The best Ive had is Roznovsky's. I had Christians Totem, but it was "To Go", my pop brought it to me when I was in the hospital.
I'm going tonight, but I'll be upstairs watching comedy. The back room at Rud's is a fun place to play darts, but it's right next to the kitchen so I often end up getting hungry again just a few hours after I've eaten.
Ok, I just had a late lunch from Sweet Mesquite's. Damn, that was one good burger. I had the 1/2 pound on sourdough with onion rings. It was awesome. I'm already thinking about when I'll go back to try the buffalo burger.
My friend, I may not be a sage like you when it comes to food in this town, but I did grow up here and know all about Bubba's Ice House.
I can't believe no one's mentioned Champs. Freakin awesome burger, though its been a few years. And I'm hooked on the bacon cheese Skeeter right now.
The Ale House used to have killer burgers. I'm a Christians UTotem fan now. Bubba's is STILL OPEN???? I havent been there in like 8 years!!!!
I work construction. And I'm gonna be honest, I want a bowl of egg drop soup, and a meal. if anyone has any suggestions fondren/richmond for chinese buffett let me know! charburger is just some old greek woman, and cast that just make burgers charred, best burger in houston, bacon cheese charburger with mustard and extra pickles, its got the char taste... kinda like picking wood in bandera texas throwing them in a huge welded 20 inch double pipe cauldron. makes all the meat good, although the last of the left out hot tequilla is great for chicken I've delivered pizzas to andy, it is, a **** place. used to be good for dating astronaut's daughters and 1999 state champion ccx debate
Christian's Totem... I could use one right now...damn but its like 20-30 minutes away from where I live
You're kidding, right? Freaking Chinatown is at Bellaire and Fondren. There are literally 15 different chinese places you can check out within 1-2 miles. Chinese food in a burger thread. Wow. Well, for your egg drop soup thing, I'll give you the recipe. So easy it's r****ded. Boil water. Drop a cube of chicken buillon in it. Let the heat come down to medium-low. Drop a couple of eggs in it. Watch for consistency, stirring occasionally. When it looks right, pour it into a bowl and eat.

This place doesn't even have french fries. For me, thats a big negative - the only time I eat hamburgers without fries is if I grill them myself.
French fries: the enema of fast food lore.... Fries are for fatties! (I know that sounds ironic, but it's true!)
Stomp's Ice House Special at Tookies. That is the bomb. (with the onion rings). Fuddruckers voters are lame. You should have just given them the 'the way i make it myself' option.
I went to Roznovsky's yesterday. I hadn't been there since I was a kid. Burgers were very good, and dirt cheap. I had a double meat double cheese for $4.45. It's a hole-in-the-wall joint, though. Absolutely nothing fancy in any way. Loved it.
Christian's is da BOMB I haven't been to all the places mentioned in this thread, YET. But after checking out Roznovsky's and Christian's Totem thanks to this thread I have a new fav. hamburger joint: Christian's Totem To those who like Roznovsky's better than Christian's: can you tell me why? I'm not dissing you in anyway, I just wonder what quality of the Roznovsky's burger you prefer over the Christian's totem burger. Because I have to admit that I like pretty much everything about the Christian's burger better (they are a little thick though), plus they have AWESOME shakes/malts. I just had one w/ a vanilla malt yesterday and I'm craving the same thing again
