That was a great game. I don't think it's a matter of if anymore, but when, I think we'll have the wild card within a week. We are clearly the best team left standing.

I like our chances in the playoffs too. We lost Beltran and Kent, but, we now have Pettite and Ensberg back. We are no less a team then we were last year. Our middle relief still sucks, but Pettite eats up 3 of those unpredictable innings every start. There is no reason we can't beat up on the Braves and Cardinals in the playoffs again.

I also want to see Taveras take of Baerga's head tomorrow. They are creeping in way to close. Even if Baerga catches the ball he barely has the arm to throw him out anyway.

All the broken backs must have brought backe memories of Piazza.

    Astromination baby.

Since we are too good for the Nationals, comparing Clemens to Oswalt is more interesting.

    Career Average:
    Clemens
    17-8 W-L
    3.18 era
    8.6 k/9
    7.7 h/9

    Oswalt
    18-7 W-L
    3.11 era
    8.1 k/9
    8.4 h/p

If you look at the numbers, Oswalt may very well be the most underappreciated player in the history of baseball. He's on par With Clemens and Pedro as quite possibly the greatest pitcher of our era. But nobody seems to care. Imagine taking 2 of the 3 greatest pitchers of our era into the playoffs for a second straight year. You guys could be watching the greatest pitching staff ever assembled. Go to the games people!

Don't get too far ahead of yourself Phi. The Astros are rolling right now, but I still wouldn't consider our team a contender. As much I love the Stros we just don't have the bats or the bullpen to get by the Cards. I could see us squeaking by the Braves again if we make it to the playoffs, but we don't have anyone to carry us offensively in the playoffs like Beltran did last year. Not to mention we no longer have Bagwell or Kent. I guess it would be possible for us to make run, but everything would have to come together at exactly the right time. Anyway, here's hoping that we can repeat as the Wild Card.

I've never been to a Roger Clemens game. I'm looking forward to attending one this summer. I went to 4 games in our last home stand, but didn't see Clemens.

I essentially agree, but this isn't the same Morgan Ensberg we had last year. He definately replaces one of those three.

Glad to see Clemens finally got some run support. Was there any reason he got pulled after six?

Cause he's older and no point in getting him to pitch more and get more tired when we have a lead and Clemens is going to get the win. 6 Innings is enough for him as long as he pitches like that and we get run support. He gets the win regardless.

get to the playoffs first and THEN worry about how you'll get past the first round. then the LCS...then the World Series. once you get there...ANYTHING can happen.

but i LOVE our starting rotation in the playoffs...they'd keep us in the games, no doubt. that's all you can ask.

I didn't live for that play by Taveras. That was bad. A 3 run error but ruled a double.

Tavaras isn't worth a damn in center field. Stick his ass in left.

Well, way to go Taveras, you cost us the game. We don't have time to let a rookie learn how to play CF. Put him in LF.
