The Lakers wont take DS because Phil Jackson likes taller point guards. I think he may go for the LLE with the Rockets, because no one will go for a long term contract with him, and he likely wants to make a long playoff run.

ya but another player looking at the HEat and Rockets is Jay Williams, so it looks like the loser of the mighty mouse sweepstakes will get Jay-will as a consolation prize.

That's right I forgot about Damon Jones. They have yet to resign him. If we have one advantage it would be that he would start here in Houston and he'd play behind Damon Jones in Miami. The Rockets have a million combo guards, but DS would be the only real PG they have. If the Suns loose Joe Johnson to the Hawks I think that makes them significantly weaker. I can't see the Suns paying him $70 mil.

I don't like this DS. He is old, short and expensive. Can we get someone young and tall like Jason Williams or even Jay Williams? BTW, Sura is not useful in this team anymore since we got a rebounder Swift now.

    1) Jason Williams is not a "tall" guard. At 6'1", he's only 2" taller than DS.

    2) If DS is expensive, we can't afford him, so don't worry.

    3) Glad to know that Sura is expendable now that we've got Swift. You're right — no team needs more than one rebounder. Please alert the media.

Any contract with Damon Stoudamire should inclue a clause preventing him from owning or being any closer than 10 feet to any aluminum foil. Otherwise, it'd be a great idea.

The history of the NBA, btw, is loaded with a history of "shooting guards" who couldn't shoot. TR Dunn was one of the best defensive guards of his time, and Bobby Sura's Career numbers look remarkablly like those for Michael Cooper with Sura comming out stastically ahead at the same age.

If you told me the Rockets were going to start TR Dunn or Michael Cooper in their primes at the 2 guard, I'd be estatic. If you have proficent 3 point shooters T-Mac & Damon Stoudamire at 2 of 3 backcourt positions, you can deal with a hustle guy at the 3rd, especially if you can get a 3 point shooter to back him up.

Going a bit smaller might not be so bad, given that the Rockets were 20th in the league in steals, 27th in forced turnovers, 16th in assists. Some of that is clearly the system which emphasises man-to-man in your face "D" but not all.

Did you know Sura averaged more rebounds per game than Swift last year? Granted, Sura also averaged ten minutes more per game, but their per 48minute averages are only off by two - Swift (10.2) v. Sura (8.4).
