It looks more and more likely that Memphis is going to just let Bonzi Wells walk because they do not want take back salary in a sign and trade. But what if we were to offer next year's #1 plus an expiring contract (maybe wesley of weatherspoon) for Wells. Do you think Memphis would go for it? If Memphis does cut him loose then maybe there is a small chance we could still land him. I know I'm probably getting a little greedy but if the rockets could add wells then I wouldn't care who they coose to start at poing guard. Swift is supposedly close with Wells and maybe Stromile can convince Bonzi to sign here for 1 year. Tmac recruited Swift and now maybe Swift can recruit Bonzi. That would give us a starting line up of...... PG- Sura/M.James/C.Ward or WHoever SG- Tmac SF- Bonzi Wells PF- Swift C- Yao
Bonzi will likely take the full MLE from some team in the league. I dont see Houston as a destination. I am sure a team like Dallas who already has a ton of swingman already will act out of desperation and sign Bonzi just so they can "make a move" in FA.
By letting him walk, Memphis still will send him his pay check, right? Since Bonzi will be getting paid twice, maybe he will settle for the LLE vs MLE if he can get PT on a playoff team?
I believe the Grizz have a team option on Wells, if they don't pick up his option, they don't owe him a dime. But I'm sure Wells will be looking for the MLE or above. I don't see the Rockets being too interested in Wells.
Bonzi is a great scorer...but has consistently proven (in Portland and then in Memphis) to be a selfish, clubhouse cancer.
Exactly, why would we want that clubhouse cancer? First Damon and now Bonzoi? Are we trying to be Portland South?
I'd take Bonzi Wells if we could get him for the LLE (dream on!). However, signing Dion Glover IMO would give us much more bang for the buck.
Yeah I didn't think there was much a chance of landing Wells but just a thought. And its not about moving mcgrady to the 2 for a "lesser player" rather its about moving Wells into a lineup in place of Wesley.
