Yao needs better hands, if so, then we will win the championship...

I noticed over and over again during the Dallas Mavericks playoffs series that Yao needs to hold on to the ball. T mac would just feed him the ball right under the basket for the easiest 2 points that even my grandma would make but Yao, Ming Yao or Yao Ming would just lose it. I think he's too smart for the game. The chinese in general are smarter than the average human beings and I believe that Yao's problem is that he just thinks too much. When T Mac is throwing Yao the ball, this is what is going on in Yao's head. "Oh, here come ball, must stick out hands and catch. Then must throw in basket before black man come and block." If Yao just did it all in one motion, kind of like second nature instead of thinking too much about it, we would have won that series. Not only that, we would have beat the Suns, the Spurs, and the Pistons. Sometimes I regret that we drafted Yao instead of Amare "Man Child" Stoudamire, but Yao brings in the bucks. Overall if I'm an owner I'm taking Yao because the capital he generates here and oversees is ridiculuos. On the basketball side of things, Amare is just better. Yeah I know I know, Yao had 29 points 25 rebounds against him in that one game, like Tony the Tiger says, "That's grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!". I loved that game, I just hope that Yao stops thinking about it more often and just lets the game flow to him like it does to the superstars in the league(Tmac, Kobe, Iverson, Wade, etc, etc...). If Yao does this, we will kick some serious ass next year.

Lurkers coming out of the wood work. 0.01 post a day

I think Yao needs to stay on the court for 35-40 minutes, we'll worry about the rest after that. :D

Amare is a better athlete...by a long shot. Yao isn't the best athlete around...he's just coordinated and fundamentally solid. Have you ever watched Amare play when Nash isn't in there? Not nearly as effective without the pick and roll and Nash feeding him as he cuts to the basket.

Once Amare gets better fundamentally, he is going to be scary.

Also, perhaps Yao just has small hands? I see lots of boards bounce off his hands as well.

EDIT: 0.3 posts per day for me :D

Yao's only problem is he is slow. But he is still a hell of a center. We are potential contenders now, IMHO.

Yeah. They need to fire medicine balls at him from a pitching machine at about 8 feet away, with one hand tied behind his back. Repeat drill 1000 times and then switch hands.

I don't know on what grounds somebody can be terminated from the site. This dude is pissing me off. He is wasting all his posts on trying to anger people and create conflict. He is seeking satisfaction by purposely trying to get us riled up. Get him out of here, whoever has the authority. Contribute something before you ever diss a Rocket player. Axxhole

So he needs new hands? Well, I am not sure if his insurance covers that. I hear there are some good transplant options available, may be we could get him Karl Malone's hands now that he ain't playing no more?

Sure he's let more than his share of balls slip through his hands or gets stripped, but he's improved a LOT on that towards the end of the season. And actually, his hands are very good, don't discredit the times where he catches tough passes...people aren't used to passing to 7'6'' guys, so passes are sometimes off mark...Yao does his job effectively.

I agree, he just needs to stay on the court more.

Now I have to disagree with you about the "chinese in general are smarter than the average human beings..." comment. I've been conducting studies for the past 20 years regarding races/nationalities and intelligence, and I've discovered that, yes, the Chinese population is in the top 5 among the smartest races, but there are actually 4 that fare better:

    1. Zimbabwe
    2. Costa Rica
    3. Greenland
    4. Northern Antarctica

The Chinese, Germans, French, etc. all rank fairly high but do not crack the top 4. So, basically, if the Rockets extend their scouting efforts to these regions, we will have the most intelligent basketball team on the planet and thus guarantee a championship, perhaps multiple.

    (Hmmmm.)
