office space c'mon, any movie with three working class men beating the **** outta a copier is definately a hood movie.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=87104&highlight=favourite+hood+movie I thought this looked familiar
Menace II Society, actually had a good plot to it. Even watched/studied it in my Hip-Hop Generation class here at UT.
Menace II Society is of course my favorite ~ the O-Dawg character was based on my life growing up in Clear Lake.
Clearly the best "hood" movie ever. It had so many good messages in there, along with true to life scenarios that many black people face ALL of the time. A lot of good actors played in it as well before they "blew" up. John Singleton's best movie. A lot of movies came out after that trying to kind of mimic that, like Menace II Society, although it was good entertainment value for me, and I just couldn't really get into the "message", because it really didn't differenciate from Boyz In The Hood all that much.
Always Outnumbered - another one starring Lawrence Fishburne, I liked this one better than Boyz in the Hood.
friday after next was better than next friday.... but neither are anywhere near the original, which is my favorite. honorable mentions: training day colors alway outnumbered, always outgunned boyz in da hood baby boy juice
Don't be a Menace to South Central while drinking your Juice in the Hood. Seriously, I laugh my ass off every time I watch that flick.
Seriously under-rated movie. Comes up just short of Boyz in tha Hood on my list of best "hood" movies.
