the bbs was where i first caught wind of the stro signing and after browsing through the thread i went over to espn.com to see what they had to say about it or what picture they might have up and they didnt have anything, no biggie i guess...but today, over 24 hrs later, they still dont even post a repport about it...i mean they mention donyell marshall to lebrons team which is understandable since their whole world revolves around him, but cmon..they even have daniels to the wiz and korver and willie freakin green to the sixers....

wheres the love for the rockets?

It took them ages to put anything up, at least 8 hours after here & the Chron. To add insult to injury, they only put up the short piece by Feigen, not his revised version which came out at least 5 hours prior to the listing.

    The reasons are simple:
    1) We're not a East Coast team. All western conference teams get less love from ESPN than their lessor/eastern conterparts, except...
    2) We're not the Lakers
    3) Our #1 draft pick isn't as "SC Top Ten" worthy as LBJ. Fundamentals aren't flashy. How much airtime does TD get...
    4) They're tools (or is only an Aussie insult...)

ESPN(.com) sucks?!? Oh no, that's a shock. At least they have it on their site.

This place still doesn't have a mention. That's pathetic, degrading, and embarrassing. Go ClutchFans!

I was wondering about the same thing. Then I came to the conclusion that it has a lot to do with Swift being an underachiever his whole career. I voted against the Rockets signing Swift. But after analyzing his stats from last year, I found out that Swift played much better as a starter when Gasol was out with a injury. His rebounding was still piss-poor, but he was much more effective when giving the minutes. Which led me to believe that Swift is going to be much much better with the Rockets with Starter's minutes.

Actually, the real reason is that ESPN.com's writers, Ford, Stien, SAS etc have NO connection with the Rockets. They have no contacts within the organziation like they do with some other teams they report heavily on. The ONLY ESPN.com writer that does is Ric Bucher and he is with Yao overseas right now with the Basketball without Borders thing.

Because JVG runs a tightship and doesnt give the media any info, ESPN.com had to rely on local Houston TV or wire reports and in this case the words from Swift's agent. So that's why they were so late in reporting this.

Bottom line? Anytime we see Houston mentioned in FA talks by Ford or Stien you can bet they got their information from AGENTS and not from Houston contacts. They have none. Thus Houston barely gets mentioned at all in those articles.

Only Bucher has some connections to Houston via Yao.

Teams are restricted by the league from talking about agreements until the CBA is ratified. So although they Rockets website is a little slow at times, we should cut them some slack on this one... ;)

Well I feel it still deserves SOME kind of mention (like "Rockets in talks with Swift" or something). It doesn't have to be anything official either.

I mean even Astros.com would discuss trading and things of that nature.

Well I would guess the reason that rockets.com hasnt announced it is because the signing can't be official until Friday. I can guarantee it will be on there on Friday.

As cited above, and my long-held belief: East Coast teams get all the love. The 'media capital of the world' is NY, and ESPN is on the East Coast as well. Many national sports writers are from the East Coast too.

ESPN's webpage actually tends to be pretty behind their own ESPNews with regards to run of the mill signings like this. I don't see it as Rockets bias.

In fact, Sporting News radio reported the Ray Allen signing several hours before ESPN had anything about it on their webpage.
