Not on the same level as the baseball player last year who was sentenced to 3 years for putting a gun to his wife's head, but only having to serve the sentence during the offsesaon, but it still pisses me off.

Courts do sometimes allow people to delay their incarceration for a little while or else conduct it in an unusual manner to avoid financial hardship. I know of a case where a guy did his jail-time on the week-ends so he could work during the week. The key here is financial hardship, which Strickland and everyone else involved in the NBA (except maybe Croce's brother) are in no danger of enduring. If you want to make the punishment and punishment, make him serve it during the season.

...Unless of course they meant he'd serve it after the regular season was over and he'd miss 10 days of the playoffs!

And just think that it was someone like strickland who killed malik sealy. he shouldn't be allowed to drive again ever because he might do the same.

It was very common in Potter County, Texas (and I assume elsewhere, but Potter County is the one I know for sure) for people convicted of drunk driving to serve their time on weekends. I don't know if they do that anymore, but in 1995, that was just the way things were done.

Personal experience in that I knew someone who was convicted of drunk driving and served his time on the weekends. I've not personally ever been convicted of drunk driving.

They also delay because the prisons might be full (per their class)

I think its pretty stupid to just server your sentence on weekends. Is that really punishment?

C'mon, can't you see telling your mom that you want to be grounded to your bedroom only from the hours of 12am to 6am?

If your going to let them server it broken up, why give it to them at all?
