I don't think J Will is that wild anymore the guy really did learn how to play better and realized his early style wouldn't get him anywhere. It did for a while in Sacramento but then it just got old. Under Hubie he had a unreal assist to turnover ratio for someone that used to play like he did earlier in his career and has become a lot better at getting his team involved. I do like his game and he is a crisp passer and can run a great fast break.
I just don't think JW could be a point guard for a championship team. If the Rockets do get him, I hope that I was wrong about that. But, if the Rockets need to take him in order to get Swift, I would consider it.
hes still their prez of bball operations and i doubt hes the type to take an inactive role when it comes to the players

His game is fun to watch. I was suprised however, to see his stats next to Sura's. Sura is actually a better 3pt shooter? And the assists are almost the same.
The issue with JWill aka WC is more in the locker room than on the floor. If this guy isn't certifyable then who is? The ? is: is Stro worth Williams, with or without a quick buy out? If he's part of an SnT then there must be a third Griz to 'balance the account'.
For Jason, it's always been a question of shot selection. When he's shooting the spot-up, open 3, he's actually a solid shooter. Far better than Sura, imo. But take that with a grain of salt, because even at his most controlled points under Hubie, he still shot the more-than-occasional jack-up 3 (fast break, middle of the offense, you name it...it came randomly). He makes his share of them, but at a poor percentage. Once Hubie left, those attempts went up a little in # again. If JVG can seriously control his shooting to a decent degree, I'd be happy with the shooting %age he can give us at the 1. Assists? I dunno, but I'd take Jason's creating/drive-and-kicking/passing over Sura's anyday. But again, his game comes with a bunch of other things, so I personally don't think he'd fit here. But if that's what it takes to get Stro..go for it
IMHO we haven't had a real pg since Lucas. Even Cassell was a better scorer than a passer and he's was probably much better than anyone we've had since. Regarding JWill, well he has the natural ability to really alter the landscape of this team. That could be disastrous, but as everyone here has said, we just need a pg to get up the court and throw it to T-Mac. Everything else is a bonus. We can (and will) argue all off-season, but a real pg who can defend and run could probably be as inportant as anything; if it works out. T-Mac and Yao are an odd duo that seemed to mesh late, and JWill could simplify much with his passing. I don't want Swift or JWill, but if we can do it we definitely should grab it.
J Will played less minutes though because of the way rotations were handled in Memphis. Watson got a lot or burn. J Will is a definite upgrade over Sura, as far as a pure PG is concerned.
i don't know what jwill is really that good at anymore. he's not a good shooter, he's not a bad passer but he's not a great floor general, his defense is ok. he was exciting and good at leading the break in sacramento but he also seemed to make poor decisions. he was more under control under hubie brown but i don't know what he really adds to the team. he's more athletic than sura but other than that the #s as shown in one of the messages are close except sura is a better 3pt. shooter.
Xiki - Personally I think the answer is "yes." However, if it takes a third player that may be the kicker. Taking one extra contract is OK, but two wouldn't be ideal.
While the TMac and Yao twosome make having a great PG not essential. I believe a good/true PG can open up exciting possibilities for the Rox. JW running the break could open a lot of possibilities. I like the gamble if we take it.
Jason Williams is a very good playmaker. He has that third eye that enables him to make some flashy passes. He can probably play a role like Tony Parker for this team. With his penetration that could leave Ming open in the blocks. He's always been great with interior passing. A role that this team needs is someone to feed our post easy passes in the paint. I think he isnt motivated defensively. And part of that reason is because of his coaches. He definitely played some defense under Hubie Brown and when you look Brown and Van Gundy have the same focus on defense. He is turnover prone when he doesnt have his head in the game , but something Van Gundy wont tolerate is absentmindedness on the court. What he could provide is some solid passing skills. I think our best passer on this team last year was Jon Barry and if we could land Jason williams it definitely would be a step up in that regards.
