after the 1st contract, it just becomes team option or player option then? do they have a team option?
A Swift/Stoudamire offseason would be great. Good to hear TMac giving him input and hopefully he is calling Swift every now and then. But I don't know how many guys could talk me out of making an extra 3-4M a year, but hopefully he will. Stoudamire would be a good addition. He's a vet guard who is only turning 31 (seems older than that). He's a great shooter and can dish the ball out. I could definitely see him in a Rockets uni next season.
Damon,it would seem has enough left in the tank to be a better than average ROLE player on a tilte contender.I,too am not familiar with his cost, but would feel good about having him in our rotation.
If we could get Stromile for the MLE and Damon for the LLE, then this would be an A+ offseason for me, considering what we had to offer monetarily. Then we would have til trading deadline to get a younger, taller, starting sg with expiring contracts, Sura, Wesley, and MJ at our disposal to offer. Someone wake me up.
Nice to hear t-mac's news so how much longer should we have to wait for the answer? It is already a week...
stoudemire couldn't hurt. He's definitely undersized but quick enough to keep up with the speedy PG's we have so much problem with. I'd welcome him as long as we have a good rotation to adjust for when bigger PG's take him to the block.
Please say no to the mouse. How many PGs do we need? Sura, James, Head, Moochie, Ward and now Stoudamire? I'd rather we get a young SG to go along with Wesley & Barry. These guys have max 1 more year with us.
Damon did have a bounce back year of sorts last season. 15.8 points,5.7 A,3.8 RB and only 2.02 TO's in 35 minutes a game. Those numbers are better than what Sura would offer, but Damon plays some weak defense these days. He has lost a step or two as age is catching up to him and he loves the hippy lettuce. Not sure he is a JVG guy. I guess I would take him over our current options other than MJ. Please say goodbye to Charlie Ward and Moochie.
Is Damon that much better then Mike James? I dont remember Damon being a very good defensive player? This team needs an athletic defensive force at the shooting guard and one other player that can create its own shot. Damon can create his own shot but play D. Last i checked...no....
"u know we get a guy like damon stodamire piont gaurd that has a solid outside shot and that can (something)....i feel we are 1 or 2 pieces away from bein a championship calibur team" - tracy mcgrady i tried to get it but it ends up being nothing...he mentioned swift earlier and now damon. so we will see what happens..
Just saw the clip...T-Mac hesitated and said "a guard like Damon Stoudamire that can shoot from the outside" also said he feels the Rox are a couple pieces away from being a championship caliber team again, he made no mention of Stromile, but both Channel 26 and 2 sportscasters said he(T-Mac) wanted Stro.
ok i'm confused. I just say like 10 posters say T-mac specifically said he wanted Swift. Now which is it?
I don't think T-Mac meant Stoudamire per se, but rather someone who can "shoot from the outside", whomever that would be. Anyways, IMO, the team will wait to see how good Head is before exploring other options, or wait until they trade away at least 2 of our current guards in a SnT deal, possibly for Stro or someone else.
earlier during the 6:00 news they showed a clip of tmac talking about swift. saying he would bring alot of athletic ability to the team along with rebounding. saying when u have a guy like yao ming on 1 side and then swift can come over to block shots is a good thing. at the 10:00 news showed a clip of tmac talkin about damon.
