He's verbally agreed to re-sign with Philly. For $70-75 million.

well as long as he doesn't go around proclaiming himself the "best center in the east" and getting yelled at by a flopping german then he's okay in my book.

I wonder if they are going to resign Korver now. He would be a nice addition to the Rockets.

So they assumed that he'd get more on the open market? Insane... but at least we know he's not Jim McIllvaine. At least Dalembert's got game.

Dalembert is going to be the next Kelvin Cato.

In 1996, Hakeem Olajuwon signed a 5 year, $55 million contract extension.

He's better than Cato, but at $12MM+ per year he will be paid a LOT more than Cato. This is the summer of stupid money.

    12M/per year!!??

This isn't good news for us. Dalembert's stats are eerily similar to Swift's in terms of points, rebounds, and minutes played. He's also using his "potential" to get paid.

But what the hell is Philly thinking? No way somebody else pays him 12M, I don't think any team would have offered him more than 10M. The Sixers were so afraid of losing him that they just offered him a ridiculous contract.

Say hello to the 12 Million Dollar Cato!!

'Bert is a center not a PF. Atlanta was interested in him so there was potentially someone that could offer alot of dough for him.

Swift has no real suitors with money to blow. But now that 'Bert is gone Atlanta may look more at Swift. Hopefull they can snag Curry and Swift will "settle" on Houston.

That is why bad teams are bad teams. I wonder why NBA even bothers to allow those teams to waive a player freely. See how quickly those stupid GM give away big contracts. They love to give away big money. It is just crazy.

if a team decides to give swift $10 million a year then let them have him. it isn't worth that type of money and we don't need to break the bank on a role player.

I agree. If somebody offers him $10 mill, do the S&T for Walker, and then go after somebody else with the MLE.

not to get totally off topic but if i remember right this extension for dream was to "make up" for being underpaid during his prime years late 80s-mind 90s

You know, I'm not going to say this contract is merited, but it does make more sense than a lot of contracts we've seen in recent years. For instance, who would you rather pay 70 million? A 30 year old Erick Dampier or a 24 year old Dalembert? Hell, I'd rather see Dalembert making 70 million on my team than Adonal Foyle making 40 million. Centers are always over-paid, and that being the case, this isn't really all that outrageous.

at first reading that was ludicrous but then i thought:

IF ADONAL FOYLE CAN GET 7 MIL PER, DALEMBERT CAN GET 12 MIL PER! :D

seriously, it's overpaying a center that hasn't shown much except for being a rebounding machine and a good defender, but i guess the city of Philadelphia is bankrolling since now it has Iverson, Webber, and Dalembert all on the books.
