If they want him, he's theirs. They can offer him the most money out of all the teams that want him. But I don't think he's a good fit there. They'd have four options (Hughes, Lebron, Walker, Big Z), which is at least one too many. I'd expect them to have identity problems having all that offense flow together smoothly.
How much money can they have after Hughes and Z? I didn't think it was much more than the MLE. We need Walker to stay out of the market until we know what is up with Swift, this makes me nervous.
Cue the posters that once again think this means we should make a run at Drew Gooden (which would be very regrettable). Cavs are doing an admirable job being so active in FA, but they could stand to be a little more choosy. I'm not sure that Hughes or Walker represent good pieces to put next to LeBron. They needed some dead-eye shooters, a burly PF, and a steady PG. Instead they got a slashing SG with a below avg jumper and are looking at a ball-hogging, bad-decision-making, finesse forward. Evan
It's not - 6 mill (est). However, that *could* allow them to do a S&T with Boston (send Drew Gooden and his $4 mill salary) and send a trade exception up to 6 million to make up the difference. Evan
i take it as a good sign that talks with other PF's have stopped. maybe the walker camp has heard that we are close to a deal with swift. swift only has a few options left not that the knicks are out and the nets apear ready to give up a pick for SAR. only ATL, CLE, NOH, SEA, and us are left. CLE has to do a S&T to get him and i doubt west will want gooden back. SEA will have to renounce the rights to the rest of thier FA's if they want a shot at him. they are the darkhorse. ATL and NOH can offer a lot of money, but they haven't yet. i think we are in front of the pack right now and in order to close the deal some of these teams will have to land other FA's.
