So I bought this desktop computer two years ago when I started college for about $1100: It works great and everything, but I'm going to be studying overseas for a semester and a laptop would be really useful. At first I was thinking of just trading my desktop for a friend's laptop for the semester, but I've decided to sell my computer pictured above and use that money to buy a laptop. I checked eBay and my computer is selling for around $700. Does anyone know of a place that buys computers for good prices, or is eBay my best option? I'm looking to spend around $800 on a new laptop and the most important thing to me is the size. I want something small and light that will be easy to carry around. So far, I'm considering the Dell Inspiron 700m: I know Dell has tons of promotions going on all the time where they offer educational discounts and what not. Does anyone know where I can get the best deal on this computer or any other computer in the same price range? Thanks in advance.
goto www.couponmountain.com. They currently have a DELL coupon where you get $750 off an order of at least $1799. Not as good as their $750 off of $1499 but it's still good. (The coupon is at the bottom)
yeah, i bought 2 700ms for my little cousins for $850 ish after coupons. They look and work great (for the money). I'm not saying they're the best, most reliable things out there - but for the money i pay, it's a great deal
get an ibook, one of the most portable, durable, and compatible notebooks youll find around. And you have gots to love the white shell.
hey adeel...i know the powerbooks are scratch resistant, but what about the white shell on the ibooks?
It all starts and ends with the 700m. I take it to the gym every morning and work on assignments while running. Yes, I can type and run at the same time. Plus, I watch DVDs while running too.
looks like you have a low budget. Otherwise I would recommend IBM thinkpad T4* or X4*. Trust me, they are much better than Dell and Compaq/HP.
They arent scratch resistant, but even the scratches dont show up at all. The layer underneath the plastic shell is white, so it looks pretty clean even after scratches. Oh and dont get a compaq/hp... ive sent mine in to repair 2 times in one year, and i think i am about to send it out again. Also, check out the averatec's... cheap, portable, and pretty slick. I dont like the monitors on them tho, but other than that, not bad at all
I actually just bought the new IBM Thinkpad X41 tablet (at a damn good price). It's a bit out of your price range, though. My friend at work has the Dell 700m (and brings it with him every day). Nicely built laptop, but damn is it small (the keyboard is tiny!). Performance is quite good for such a small machine.
Apples the best.....Dell is crap compared to it...Just ask omair Toshiba is cool too, but mine is 15.4", and 1 lb. more than the ibook or 700m. The 1 extra lb. doesnt make a diff but that extra 3" screen might be a lil annoying to carry around because it wont fit in my backpack.
I got a DELL Latitude D600 laptop. Best investment I ever made. Less than 5 lbs. Excellent battery life. Made for mobility and can handle its own in terms of performance.
found a good deal for you within your budget... Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook, with good video card & dual layer DVD burner. I would jump on this as fast as possible. http://www.gotapex.com/l/?QNQ6V20R
