I don't know what it is (and sorry if this has been said again and again), but this offseason is so depressing for me. Watching all these videos from the past season and post season has me remembering where I was when all these moments happened and how I reacted.

I think I feel more depressed this year, b/c I really believed last years team was just so special, although far from perfect. I really believed deep down we would go to at least the WCF, but fell sadly short. Maybe we'll pick up some great pieces...maybe future teams will give us great memories...

but I will definitely remember T-Mac's first season here.

*sniff sniff* Damn, I love this team.

i could not agree more...this off season has already been way too long. i waited forever just for the draft and that wore off within a day. patience is a virtue...hopefully something comes up soon to ease the pain of not seeing the play

Every offseason is the worst offseason ever... don't you know this by now?! :D

Oh well, there's always the summer league games to look forward to... also known as the 2005 Malick Badiane Watch and Worship Tournament...

i had been disinterested in the rockets since i realized that we could never win with francis. that was around 2000. i had not watched or cared til i heard we were getting mcgrady. now im more enthusiastic than ever. this offseason feels like limbo. mcgrady has made the rockets more entertaining than they have ever been. except maybe with olajuwon. damn offseason.

    roxgirl,

It's always like this. Off-seasons suck for NBA/Rockets fans; well, off-seasons for any sports fan.

I know. Too damned hot outside and no Rockets on TV. *sigh*

This offseason is feels way longer than the previous offseasons. I guess it's because I know we are so close to the championship, yet so far... This offseason is a critical time. It's hit or miss right now. Man, I hope it's a hit.

Is there any word on whether any of the summer league games will be televised?

Not that I know of. If any are televised, I would think our chances may be good considering the Bucks are playing in the same summer league we are and they have the #1 overall pick from the draft that talks a lot of trash. :D

    Roxgirl,

Don't forget the Rockets had a great year in 92, but we lost a bitter game to Seattle. The next season we won the championship with the addition of Cassell at the 24th pick in the draft.
It is also depressing that the Spurs won the championship and overtook us as most championships in Texas. Plus I hate the Spurs. However, I read a book that made me feel really good this weekend. Its a short read and cheap pickup on the net.

    Lots of compelling stories.
John Lucas saying that Robinson should be MVP over Hakeem.
Kenny Smith getting bashed by the NYC Media during the finals.
Robert Horry almost traded for crap like Sean Elliott, Danny Manning, Kenny Gattison!
    Vernon Maxwell.

    There's a happy ending too!
    :p

You know what will make the off-season suck worse? Watching all the FA get signed to other teams. Once SAR, Walker, Swift & Marshall are gone and the Rockets don’t have one this place will get really depressed. :( :( :(

I agree with that, but like the others said football season is near. I think this past season was so special because of what T-Mac brought to this team and city. We all got a just a taste and we want more. It was a dream season for me personally because he was my favorite player even before becoming a rocket.

I was there that san antonio game and I stayed till the end.

R2k and I were there as well. We watched the THOUSANDS file to the exits and I continue to rejoice in shoving TMac's performance in their faces at every opportunity!

If you are going to attend the game, STAY TILL THE END!!!

Will anybody be in Minny for the summer league who can get us some reviews?

I know it's not LA DoD, but I'm sure the weather is real nice up in Minny this time of year, too... ;)

Also, isn't Sishir living up there?

I liked everyone on this team. I'm sad to know that it'll break up, even if it's just a few key people. Barry, Sura, Mutumbo, Howard, and Wesley really had me rooting for them not just because they played hard, but because they were just great guys to watch. I'm hoping we can keep sura, barry, and howard on the bench for chemistry and just upgrade the starting lineup. All these guys deserve rings.

I haven't had a chance to come check on this thread, too busy watching more videos of the season over and over again. I just so anxious, worried, curious of how the roster will end up for the preseason, and how it might change until the trade deadline. I really liked the guys on the team last year, but I knew that they are aging, and we really can't expect TOO much from some of them. Let's hope the Texans give us some more to cheer about this year...that'll hopefully tide me over until pre-season rolls around.

Watching the vids from the last season opened my eyes to one thing...being a hometown fan, I usually only know the most about our hometown players. Before T-Mac was a Rocket, I knew he was VC's cousin and he was really good, scoring champ, this and that...actually didn't pay attention to any of the hating on him. Then he came here...and I saw what this man can do. I hope he finishes his career here and gives us many many memorable moments. Along with that small chinese guy ;) I like him a hell of a bunch too :p

Kids, witnessing the sad end of Hakeem's career, when he still wanted a big check and he went to Toronto :( That was a summer that sucked. It was like your dog died.

Granted this past season was fun with an over acheiving bunch of over-the-hill scrappers but the best years for T-mac and Yao are still a couple of years away. You talk about fun, wait till you suffer through 3 seven game series and then get go down on Richmond and just go crazy-happy.

We could have won something with a healthy Juwan howard. So even we won't get any pfs this offseason, i still don't think it's the end of the world.
    Juwan coming back=championship contender.
