That Ausmus trade sure looks good now! http://espn.go.com/mlb/news/2000/0605/569061.html This is the same injury that sidelined him his rookie season with the Astros. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
Agreed! I never did like his attitude toward his teammates. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
Me too. I believe the proper term is "clubhouse poison". You can have all the talent in the world, but if you don't have the right attitude, you aren't going to be a success in any profession. ------------------ "Blues is a Healer" --John Lee Hooker
It's weird how trades that initially looked horrible turned out ok. The Hampton trade didn't work out for the Mets. The Everett trade is causing all sorts of problems in Boston. Now Meluskey's hurt. Even if these trades do nothing for the Astros at least they didn't do anything for those other teams either. ------------------
Thats a shame. I wanted to watch Melusky fall on his face this season. Oh well... ------------------ "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored."- (Aldous Huxley)
I was one who hated, hated the Everett trade, but with the recent happenings I feel so much better about it....Go Astros! ------------------ I'm just a nut, trying to get a squirrel!
Okay, I will publicly admit that I was wrong -- I thought the trade was horrible. I didn't see why in the world we would want to trade an up and coming star catcher for Brad Ausmus. But I've thought about it, and now I like the trade, and even more so now that he's injured. GO ASTROS!! ------------------ All your hoes are belong to us
I think Hunsicker knew more about Meluskey than you or I did. Not just his shoulder (but maybe he knew that too), but his attitude in the clubhouse and his work ethic as well. We know the man can hit, but he was a below average catcher. Ausmus ranks as one of the best defensive catchers in the game today, and someone our pitchers respect. Did they respect Meluskey? Who knows. As for his bat, Ausmus may not hit as well as Meluskey, but he's no Tim Bogar either. With all the bats we have in our lineup, and the offensive game that Enron is taylored to, I think Ausmus is a perfect fit. ------------------ Behad Sergeant at Arms of the Clutch BBS
