Last weekend, my wife and I were treated to the Sunday brunch at Doneraki (three locations, Westheimer/Hillcroft, Gulfgate, and outside downtown) and it was phenomenal. Everything was awesome, they had an omelette bar, mole, fajitas, pineapple tamales (didn't try these), and even watermelon juice. Another favorite of ours is the weekend breakfast buffet at Skeeters.
Does Le Peep do breakfast all day like IHOP? I'm thinking about where to go for lunch and the one near Kirkwood isn't too far, plus I'm in breakfast frame of mind now thanks to you guys.
Le Peep closes at 3PM (IIRC), but does breakfast until then. I hear this is because the owners started in Colorado and wanted to be closed in time to hit the slopes.
Thanks. Hopefully the bossman, aka my uncle, won't want all of us to eat together which is nice because he pays, but he chooses the place and it's usually the chinese buffet next door. You know what's funny is the first time I heard of Le Peep was when I was doing these backed up expense reports and I noticed he ate there a couple times every month while going over his Amex Business CC bill.
Harris County Smokehouse at Hwy 6 and 290 is pretty good for breakfast. In midtown, Farago's has the best cream cheese stuffed french toast.
Fatty, You've got to check out Aunt Bea's 24 Hour Restaurant @ 45N & Tidwell. Real blue collar place. Best drunk food ever. Biggest breakfasts ever. And the thing is they only charge you like 5 bucks for a ton of food. They have this "Working Man's Breakfast" that comes with pancakes, eggs, toast/muffin, hashbrowns, & ham/sausages for like $4.99! It's definitely food coma inducing! Here's the B4-U-EAT review of it: HTML: http://www.b4-u-eat.com/houston/restaurants/reviews/rsv3545.asp
Yeah, you guys were talking about Juan in a Millon when I was asking where to go in Austin a few weeks ago. We went there and it was just as good as you said.....and you're right, that is a hell of a handshake! A buddy of mine swears by the breakfast tacos at a Taqueria called Alma Latina...anyone tried it?
Nah, but I've been to Star Seeds and I give that place a thumbs up for breakfast tacos too. Just order one. But stuff it with a sh!tload of ingredients. The knock is they don't offer chips & salsa @ the table, though. Bummer. Hmm ... another good taqueria in town is Jalescience (or however you spell it) in the Heights off Yale and ... hmm ... maybe near 8th street if I remember correctly? You can get a big ass breakfast for like 4 or 5 bucks too.
Believe it or not, but Cheesecake Factory has a good brunch menu. My wife dragged me there for Sunday brunch and it was awesome. Its not in Houston, but the best place I've even had breakfast is some place called the Bluebonnet Cafe in Marble Falls, TX, outside of Austin.
Buffalo Grille on Bissonett is pretty good. The Breakfast Klub is phenomenal and well worth the wait.
If ever in the chicago area, a place called Butterfield's Lunch and Breakfast. Go during Orange Season. They hand pick the best oranges. Just the juice alone is worth a plane ticket there. And every single thing on the menu is great. If your into trying different things try the spinach crepes.
