Do you know him personally? If so, I understand being loyal to a friend. But if not, you don't really know whether he's a "great person" either. The fact of the matter is, the Rockets are a company, and essentially every other corporation would fire as a spokesperson someone who has acquired the taint Calvin Murphy has. Look at what happened to Kobe Bryant and his endorsements.

Les...Fox...whoever. It's a BUSINESS DECISION. If they've underestimated his popularity, they'll pay the cost. If Murphy would draw in more viewers than others, they'll pay the cost.

I'm just surprised that people are surprised.

exactly. right or wrong, people don't want their corporate name associated with that mess.

Please don't let this thread die. I want this thing to stay at the top of the board. Personally, I've been registering my comments on the Fox Sports site every day since I heard the news. I hope as many people as possible will do the same. It takes 1 minute out of your day. Please consider making this part of your daily routine.

For all those who don't want Calvin back, we can agree to disagree, but I think most Rocket fans would prefer Murph over the alternatives. We shall see. Make some noise Houston!!!

Clutchfans is a very loyal brotherhood of Rocket basketball. Let's take it a step further. Let's do something bigger than we've ever done before and voice our collective opinion and displeasure about the decision to fire Calvin. It could make a difference and Calvin could be back in some capacity with the Rockets. Any suggestions other than emailing FoxSports? Speak up before it's too late.

Bigger than getting the rockets a new arena and keeping them from moving out of Houston? Learn your history brother.

Not sure if this has been posted, but yesterday on sports radio 610 I heard that Dave Harbeson guy mention this site and the petition that was started to bring Calvin back. Actually he said something along the lines of "Over at rockets.com or some other rockets site they started a petition to bring Calvin back, but it only has around 200 signatures, many of which are duplicates. Hardly an overwhelming cry to bring him back from the fans." Not an exact quote, but along those lines. First of all, this guy is disrespecting our attempt at showing our support for Calvin. Second of all, how can you claim to be enough of a Houston sports expert to get a job on the radio, but you have no clue what clutchfans.net is??? What a joke.

I would love to see him back. Most analysts are boring as hell . He and Worrell were often more entertianing than the game; a very rare thing.

Freaking Les, what the hell. That they're holding Murph over the fire for a past they already knew about is weak.

Maybe you wouldn't hire him, but TNT did, because he is damn good. So is Calvin. I became a fan partly because of Calvin.

You know, OJ was found "not guilty" in a courtroom also.

For all those using Marv Albert as an example: Like Calvin, Marv was fired by NBC and MSG in 1997, no doubt, due to all his personal stuff. He was rehired by both a few years later I believe.

Perhaps Calvin will have the same fate. Maybe well see him back in a few years.

I heard that too and and Rich Lord was a part of it also. I changed the station not because I'm upset because they thought Calvin is joke but because of the attitude they seemed to have. It was like they couldn't believe that some people like or would want Calvin back.

Did you hear the part about unretiring Calvin's jersey?

Rich Lord is an uninformed tool. I wish he would move to another market so I don't have to stumble upon his voice when I listen to 610.

I liked calvin's analysis as much as the next guy - and I don't want clyde doing the games (let Bull have the gig full time if you have to change) - but Murphy's off the court issues may have created this problem. - its not just the trial, remember dude has 14 kids by 6 women - and he was also accussed of billing the city for work he did not perform (remember about 6 years ago?)

anyway, it just a little too soon to bring him back but remember Marv Albert is back on the air... so maybe there is hope for murph in the future !!
