Well, I'm going to be in Dallas this weekend on business and am staying downtown. Any suggestions on where to watch the games??? I'll probably just hang out in the hotel Thursday on the laptop in the chat room, but what about Saturday? Any ideas? ------------------ AAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!
what kind of crowd are ya looking for? if it's hot as crap SMU chicks who won't give you the time of day (nothing personal, they're like that to EVERYONE), head to greenville avenue. if you're into more of a crowd that revels in multiple piercings, you can't really go wrong with deep ellum. plus, the music scene isn't too bad. of course, there's always the "hey, i'm a tourist" west end section of town, which, in my own humble opinion, blows whales. i'm up north, so i'm somewhat removed from the downtown scene, but if given some direction from you (likes, dislikes, preferred crowd, single, etc.), i could probably pick out a pretty decent spot. ------------------ Ric http://www.houstonprofootball.com
Lower Greenville....J. Pepe's is cool. Try this website: http://www.guidelive.com/ Saturday's, pretty much everything down Greenville is packed, so pick your spot wisely, or be "nuts to butts" with Dallas-ites all night. There is a Humperdink's on Loop 12 and Hwy 35 that has a ton of TV's. It has a cigar bar, a bar area, as well as a restaraunt. If you are looking for something to do besides game watching, try the Pocket Sandwich Theatre, 75 at Mockingbird. They have live improv. comedy troupes as the late show, great stuff! They have a live play of some variety at 8:15 pm, then the comedy show hits the stage about 11. It is pretty cheap, and funny!! Decent foods too. Here is a website for that: http://www.dallas.net/~pst/ ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness." The only thing in my fridge is some old cheese and half a twelve pack of Sam's Cola. ------------------ Houston Sports Board [This message has been edited by mrpaige (edited March 28, 2001).]
I forgot about Humperdinks. I always liked that place. We used to go there often when I lived in Denton (we'd drive in from Denton, obviously.) They were still in the old building then, the new one is much nicer. The only bad experience I had there was having to deal with a bunch of obnoxious Penn State fans who had taken over the place to watch Penn State play Michigan (or somebody). Even though the Texas-Texas A&M game was also on, nearly all the TVs had the Penn State game showing (I assume the Penn Staters arranged ahead of time to meet there and do their thing). I can't recall why I stopped going there (there's even a Humperdinks in Arlington last I checked). I guess it's because I stopped hanging out with the guy who was always suggesting we go there (that and I got a satellite dish. Once I got that, I quit leaving the house). Of course, Humperdinks isn't downtown at all. It's up by the AMC Grand movie theater (which isn't that far away from downtown, but it's just not in it). ------------------ Houston Sports Board
