Yep. You're the only one. I don't like the spectre of what he did but damnit it's not a Rockets broadcast and doesnt have much fun factor without Calvin. I wish they would bring him back - he was soooorely missed last year.

Murph brought a certain excitement to games I don't think others can match.

His professional resume doesn't excuse him from his personal mistakes.

You're not the only one, Brando. The Rockets weren't very gracious in how they treated Calvin, but letting him go is the right thing to do. Murphy made decisions in his life that were extremely poor, and to expect a team to continue to employ him in such a public position is unrealistic. I'm glad he didn't do the terrible things he was accused of doing, but he has done lots of other things that he didn't deny that make him unemployable in a position that essentially makes him a team spokesman.

I don't think his personal mistakes outweigh what Calvin Murphy brings to a Houston Rockets broadcast, how he gets the fan sitting at home more involved in the game. Calvin is irreplacable.

If you build the petition site, they will come.

I always liked Murph's insight and personality. It took a while to grow on me, but in the basketball sense, I respect him.

OK, he's definately not a good father. As long as he stays within the legal limits, why should this be held against him?

    I hope he returns.

Calvin was just on sports radio 610 and he was upbeat. When asked when did the Rockets inform him of the change he said 15 minutes before they released it to the press. He also said he will always be a rocket and we cant get rid of him in the city cause hes spoiled by all of us. He said the rockets do not define him he has 3 college degrees he can do other things even put in wood floors haha. He also said some teams have already contacted him about possibly making a lateral move and John on 610 said he knows the station may have room for him.

Who are you to judge!? You don't know this man.....only what you read in the paper and news casts. He is and was a great person and was great at his job. No one should lose their job behind false accusations...period.

The Rockets organization and fans have known about his 14 kids for years now......come on man. Nothing is new about that. He would mention that on tv while broadcasting. This is clearly a decision made by personnel at FOX that believed that Murphy is a bad person and maybe guilty in his or her eyes. It's horrible and unjust.

I just sent Fox a message letting them know what a bad move it was to get rid of Calvin. Although there are some dissenters on this board, I think many of us will miss him. In addition, I let them know that I believe they will lose some viewership, not increase it, starting with me. I certainly will not watch as many Rockets games next season, just as I did this season.

    BRING BACK CALVIN!!!!!!!!!

Happen to see Magic Johnson doing any TV work lately?

Fact is, back during the 70's and 80's, the typical lifestyle of many NBA players was one of rampant and careless sex. Anyone remember how many women Wilt claimed to have bedded? Calvin was no worse, nor better, than many of his contemporaries. It is intellectually dishonest to attempt to demonize him and him alone when he was merely part of a crowd at the time.

A previous poster had it spot-on: This has nothing to do with anything except the fact that Les personally dislikes Calvin for whatever reason, and has used this episode as a convenient excuse to fire him. Except Les has shown to have very little spine in such matters, if it affects his bottom line. As soon as protesters start marching outside of Rockets games, as soon as people start boycotting sponsors, and as soon as people start staying home from the games because of this decision of his, as soon as people begin to understand just how HORRRRIBLE the telecasts are going to be, Les will CRAWL back to Calvin.

Hopefully Calvin will be able to get past the insult and let Les hire him back (at a substantial raise of course).

And I know Fox 'controls' that, but don't think for a second that if Les wanted him back, that he wouldn't be back that very night.

The only real question is, how long will it take for Les to really have a grasp of how badly this is going to affect him?

Magic Johnson is not employed by the Houston Rockets now is he? oh, that must mean that he's employed by someone else who has different standards in this manner. And also that he isn't recently coming off of a molestation trial and the relevation that he has 14 kids with nine women.

That's pretty much irrelevant. The guy just went through a major scandal and didn't come out completely clean - now everyone knows about his illegitamite children. Whether or not players in the 70's and 80's did have rampant and careless sex has no bearing on whether or not the Rockets want as a frontman someone who's recently been through such negative publicity.

It's not the accusations I have issue with. If you remember his defense in his trial was that he was just a terrible father and not a child molester.

And i had no idea about the 14 children and i don't think most fans like you say knew either
