"Immediate Stimulous" to the economy?

    Isn't the Bush tax cut backloaded? What is this 'immediate stimulous' he's talking about? I'm all for a tax cut, but if the majority of the cut doesn't take place until years from now, where is the immediate stimulous?

    They're referring to changes in the plan to make it more front loaded (and retroactive).

    As RM95 mentioned, there's a plan circulating to give every taxpayer a $300 tax rebate for this year (at a cost of $60B). I'm not sure how it would be distributed or anything.

    I believe Bush proposed it in his tax cut package. Democrats support it and are willing to pass it (I think) on it's own. Bush is not willing to consider it separately from the rest of his tax package (smart move on his part). Who knows what will happen..
