i'm kinda afraid of posting on here, b/c it seems like half the ppl here are looking to insult you or tell you that you have no right to post and love making ad hominem attacks.. so forget y'all. larry hughes obviously will be looking for a lot of money. he seems to have turned the corner and has started capitalizing on all of the flashes of potential everyone saw in him back in golden state. after his breakout season, he seems to offer everything that we'd want out of a FA pick-up at the 1 and/or 2. his defense is truly exceptional, and his offense is definitely there, as evident by his 22 PPG avg last year. apparently he doesn't like how the talks w/ the wiz are going, so now he's looking at the cavs. it might take a S&T to get him, but he's 26, and could figure to be part of our backcourt for the future. he's an unrestricted FA, so we could trade wesley and ward, for example, if washington doesn't want to lose him for nothing. he may want a long-term contract, which may lessen how much money we have to extend yao's contract, but other than money, why shouldn't the rockets look at hughes? holla back. let's try to focus on the topic instead of trying to attack the poster.
Larry never stuck me as a defensive force, maybe I didnt watch his game enough. He is a 2 guard? I dont think he is a fit here. It will be nice to have him if he is going to take less money and be happy as non-focus here. I dont think it's happening both form Rox's perspective or Larry's. Our off-season pority is PF. Until that is solved, there wont be any money spent on other position I feel. We are in it to win it all not rebuilding.
The thing is just that its kinda hard to to get a player like Hughes for Ward and Wesley ..............there, i said it nicely
He was on the All-NBA Defensive First Team. You must not have been watching much if you think he wouldn't fit here. We can't afford him here unless there is a sign and trade, but I could definetely see the first team all defensive 2 guard fitting in Wesley's place quite nicely. i do agree our priority is PF, but, I would not pass on Hughes if he is interested.
he would be a nice fit at SG. he can't really hit the 3 but niether could sura. if we were able to sign him then we would need a PG who is a good 3pt shooter. however, we have no shot at him so whats the difference weather or not he would fit?
Biggienaz, believe me when I say that everyone is interested in Larry Hughes. Everyone. He's unbelievable. But that's precisely why we won't get him. We simply can't afford him with our MLE and probably won't have the assets to pry him from Washington in a S&T. He's a pipe dream. Kinda like wishing we had Ray Allen or Micheal Redd.

The only thing that bothers me is his three point percentage.
Would I like to see him on our team? Yes. Does that have any chance of happening anytime soon? No. Hughes will either end up back in Washington or get overpaid by a team like the Cavs who are desperate for a big splash.
The only problem with Hughes as far as we're concerned is that he's less of a shooter and more of a scorer. His jump shot has never been that great and his 3P% is well below average. However, a player like him would be great to play some minutes with the first team and especially be the primary ball handler or scoring option when TMac or Yao aren't getting things going. However, as others have said, I don't see Washington wanting expiring contracts for him...
Screw lh. We should be going after Michael Redd. He would be the perfect 3rd option on this team to compliment Ming and TMac. Spoon + Wesley + 2nd rounder for Redd. Spoon would give them a legit pf to go with Boguts, Wesley could step in and produce at sg, and the 2nd rounder would replace the one they used on Redd in the first place. I think the bucks would do that rather than let Redd walk away for nothing right?
He's looking for a Max contract. We've got two pretty much, that's hard to say we should be looking at Redd. Let's be realistic here guys.
That's why I love it here.. I love the domination.. No but really.. If we landed a huge fish like Larry Hughes with the tiny bait we have all I would be able to say is "OPPS I CRAPED MY PANTS.." Not gonna happen dude.. Someones sarcasm meter is broken...
I think that with Redd and Allen, Hughes hasn't gotten the attention he deserves. But now that they are both off the market, he will be along with Johnson the best 2 available (in my opinion the better one), and, unfortunately, out of our trading capability.
Hughes 3 pt shooting would be a concern, but if there were a way to bring him here I'd be all for it. I think his defense and athleticism would be a great fit here. That said, I don't see a way to pull it off.
You officially don't know what you are talking about. Larry Hughes is one of the best defensive players in the nba and anyone who plays that type of defense would be an excellent fit here IF we could afford him.
