Technically, this Spain Colored Orange is a new band that used to be called 8 Track Charade. Then they kicked out their guitarist and drummer (who came up with the 8TC nomiker) and decided to use the Spain Colored Orange name. It's Gilbert, but the band members and music are very different than the previous SCO stuff. Personally, I thought 8 Track Charade was a fantastic name, but nobody asked me... I'm subbing in with Modulator, who got nominated for Best Female Vocalist. The band plays the Speakeasy Lounge at 4PM on Sunday, July 24.
about 4 or 5 years ago a friend me gave a spain colored orange tape, thinking it was right up my alley (it was). i really liked it.
Lady D played accordion on the most recent Carl Hayn and the Holdouts CD. She's a sweetheart, and her Zydeco band is great!
I did a show for Spain Colored Orange, under that name, like 5 of 6 years ago at the Oven. Bright Eyes headlines, and Gilbert and Erica opened. edit: I even remember seeing Spain Colored Orange as a full band opening for Modest Mouse at Fitgeralds a couple of years before that. That had tbe like 98..whenever Lonesome Crowded West came out.
Shared a bill with these guys back in 2002. They're cool. Good band, too. FYI, if you ever see a band called Strangelight on the bill, run away. Run away and never look back. BTW, there's a good band playing at Sullivans tonight....
I might have to come on over and check one of them out when I get off.......wait when is this again? EDIT: NM ...the link is working for me now.
Just every other Thursday night. Wise ass.... Love that elevated stage. You can see right down the waitress's blouses! So this series of shows is only for bands that won something in the awards, is that right? OK, well that would disqualify Strangelight. Everyone is safe again.
Zwee looks like they might be pretty cool. I might have to come check them out! Stack is your place selling wristbands????
Well no, none of the people have won any award yet. They basically nominated all these different bands and local people and they have ballots at all the venues and i believe after sunday and all the votes are done they will announce the winners in the next issue of Houston Press. The admission is 7 Bucks but the band gets you into every venue on the list so you don't have to stay in one place all day.
Now there's a selling point. Titty shots from the stage are wonderful. Calling the booking agent now..... You know I'm just funnin' ya, right? Just so you know, I am....
This thread reminded me that I no longer have a copy of the Blueprint album. I haven't seen the CD or Lp around in a couple of years. Anyone know where I cna get a copy? I'd also love a copy of that tape they did at the very end of the band.
