Top 4 hitters on the Stros all hitting .285+......now if we can get some production at 5-7 we should be ok with this pitching staff.

Jason Lane and Chris Burke should be batting at least .270.

Another great bit of news .. we have now scored as many runs this season as we have given up. Amazing that we made it back to that point with where we were not too long ago. I'd have never thunk it, but man am I happy.

Last year Michael Barrett sparked the Astros and this season I think its the "R.I.P." article. Its amazing how well the team has played since that came out.

    21- 10 overall
    12- 3 at home
    9 - 7 on the road (after 5-22 start)

It must be very vidacating to hit a homer after the pitcher tossed around the batter in front to get to you.

I know I would feel pretty good about it....:)

The Cubs and sucking have nothing to do with wins and loses....it is a state of mind.

Too bad the Braves are hot now to. We need them or the Nationals to cool off if we are to have a chance at the WC.

Washington's due for a drop off, they've been playing waaaaay over their heads all year. Runs/game and ERA are basically identical to the Stros. 23-7 in 1-run games is amazing, and there's a good bit of luck involved. They do get Vidro back soon, though. With the ownership situation up in the air, I doubt they'll make any major acquisitions. We'll see. Me thinks they end up 3rd in the NLEast, ATL & Fla are simply more talented.

One good thing about being stuck behind the entire NLE in the Wild Card race is that they will be playing each other a ton in the second half of the season. Stros gotta take care of buisness, the 2nd half of July after the break - @ STL, PIT & the Nats, home for the MF'n Mets & Philly - will be huge, and will definitely influence what direction they decide to go approaching the trading deadline.

Wow... the Astros are making Peavy look very ordinary. I guess when you're hot...

Nice first inning. I want to see the aggressive baserunning to continue in the whole game. The catcher hasn't caught since 2001 :)

I actually forgot about the post earlier in this thread which said that Peavy was under the weather, and how we probably caught a break.

He was hanging sliders left and right... obviously not the type of pitches a guy with a sub 3 ERA would be throwing on a regular basis. My guess is, he's a little sick out there (but the Astros bats are still scorching hot... a sick Peavy is still better than the Chan Ho Park who's shut us down twice this year).

Damn... Pettite just lost the no-hitter.

Yes I think we definitely caught a break, but I'll take it.

Peavy had such a bad sore throat last night that they stuck him in the hotel and didn't let him near the rest of the team today for fear that he is contageous. As of this morning, they still were not sure if he'd make his start. I'm glad he was able to go :)

I agree... they kinda let Peavy off the rope after making him work really hard the first 2 innings.

They started swinging at first pitches (some of them bad ones), and stopped working the count.

Damn... Pettite had to leave this game early... hopefully its not an injury (that is just what this team cannot survive... especially now that they have the bats going).

Freaking Russ Springer is in right now... everybody on alert.

Pettitte out... hopefully it's nothing serious. If there's a positive, it's that he doesn't have another start before the break, so he has a while to rest... hopefully that's all he needs.

I really hope this was a set plan. Pettite looked awesome out there tonight (and he's looked better and better as this season has gone on). He adds such versatility to this staff... and he's truly one of the best "pitcher's" in the league (a guy who relies more on deception and location, rather than just pure stuff).

Well, he only threw 60 pitches thru 5 innings, hopefully its just for precautionary measures.

At least Springer got thru the 6th :)
