Kobayashi wins 5th straight crown 5-7 champ misses world record, eats 49 dogs; U.S. woman 2nd with 37 Takeru Kobayashi eats 49 hot dogs -- shy of his world record of 53 -- in 12 minutes to win his fifth straight hot dog eating title. Updated: 3:02 p.m. ET July 4, 2005 NEW YORK - For the fifth straight year, it was a victory Takeru Kobayashi could truly relish. Kobayashi, 27, captured the Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest Monday, gobbling a nauseating 49 dogs in 12 minutes — but missing his own world record of 53, set at last year’s July Fourth competition. The win means the coveted Mustard Yellow Belt will return to Japan for the ninth year out of the past 10. New Jersey’s Steve Keiner, who won in 1999, is the only American to capture the title in the past decade.
If I can be frank with you for a second, if you're going to use a bad pun, at least use one that wasn't used in the original story...
Is it wrong that I thought the chick that came in second was super hot? Kobayashi didn't look fat at all. The guy has obviously been lifting weights (his biceps were huge).
Skinny guys are much better equipped for eating contests than fat guys. All that fat actually compresses the stomach, which isn't benefitial when you have to eat a lot of food in a short amount of time.
No, but it is kinda wrong that you're checking out Kobayashi's ripped guns. I wonder if that technique he has would be good for anything else... Edit:
Well, if she was pregnant, she'd have a bun in the oven. (just in case the previous puns didn't cut the mustard)
Yea, that's supposedly the answer people give. Yet, fat people consistently eat more than me. On average, fat guys eat more and eat faster than skinny people, from what I've seen.
Did you really expect any of us to wade through an article about 'competitive' eating? This dude is just a machine, though. He didn't quite beat the record he set last year, but it's clear this guy is dominating his sport like nobody has dominated their sport before.. Not everyone shares your passion for wiener gobbling.
Yeah, I can see how it would be difficult to wade through an article that's a whole four sentences long... Heck, you didn't even need to go any furter than the first sentence!
