They have contacted these 3 players allready & will sit down and talk to them. Meaning they are very interested in them.
I'm not sure how exactly they can fit both Simmons AND Swift in. And I dont think either one will sign for the MLE or less. If we get them, or one of them, I'd be ****ing estatic though.
I would assume they would try to do a sign & trade for Swift and sign one of the other out right. Unless Walker could be had for a S& T as well.
I trust CD not to sign the disaster that Walker would be on this team. Not sure why he is talking to him/interested...how can he help the Rockets???
There is some potential for Walker to be a fit on this team. When he is playing within his game, he can be really good and create significant match-up problems. On the other hand, Swift + Simmons would be the perfect offseason.
Well...he cant play PF in the west and if we play him at SF that means we have to move Tmac back to the 2. Simmons and Swift would be great...but the Clips and Grizz are going to want something back in a S&T. Dont you think they could get better than Mike James or Bob Sura? Antonio Daniels and Donyell Marshall, while not as good an offseason as Simmons and Swift, would make be very solid.
If those players are going to sign with a team no matter what then the teams would have to settle, mostly, for what they get in a sign-and-trade. The fact that the Rockets are talking to them means it's very possible to get those players in a sign-and-trade I doubt the Rockets would be wasting their time on players they couldn't acquire.
Excited that we could possibly land Simmons, but cautious about his improvement in a contract year and the past performances of ex-Clipps on the Rockets.
Absolutely. But, you have to remember that it's not like this would be a typical trade because the players have some power. And if Swift or Simmons want more than the MLE, it won't be enough above MLE money that their teams won't be scared by the threat of them bolting and leaving them with nothing in return. The players still hold the majority of leverage in a S&T, and if they want to be Rockets, they can tell their organizations to trade them here or they leave them with nothing in return. It doesn't matter if they get a better offer than James or Sura if CD can do the right sales pitch and convince them to be here. As far as Walker, he's a bad fit for most teams in the league... but we might be one of the only good teams that he can succeed on. It's not like we have an abundance of guys who create their own shot off the dribble... there are less people to distribute touches around here than there was for him in Dallas, for example. He's still not close to my first priority (I'd rank Stro, SAR and Donyell ahead) but he's still an upgrade over what we have now and better than some discussed alternatives, imo.
