Does anyone know exactly what's up with Golden State's Troy Murphy? His contract status, and what the team's plans for him are? I only ask because it seemed odd to me that they drafted Ike Diogu so high, as well as Chris Taft in the second round. Obviously it's doubtful GS is gonna give him up, but if it was a possibility, he's pretty much friggin perfect for the Rockets...

lol looks like theyre trying to get the type of pf's we always wanted for yao, so they can lure him during FA ....maybe they read this board too much
The warriors are in pretty bad shape capwise (Davis, Richardson, Murphy, Foyle, Fisher will pretty much cap them out for the next few years). If Diogu works out, I could see them dealing Murphy for expiring contracts. He would be good pickup. He rebounds and can hit 15 footers.
Defensively, Murphy is a sieve. He stops nobody. But I can still see a trade of him, Pietrus, and Fish for DWes, and some other expirings. Start him at the 4, and Pietrus at the 2. And let Fish, Head, and Spanoulis compete for mins.
I was actually thinking about a guy like Murphy. He has a great mid-range jumper that can hit 3's, and on top of that, he actually rebounds the ball. His defense and contract status are the negatives. He signed a pretty big contract 1-2 years ago. But I could see JVG liking a guy lke Murphy. Jopatmc- I would love to get Peitrus, but I don't see GSW trading him, he had a really good season with them last year.
Murphy signed a 70 mil contract, starti ng next season IIRC. Skita is Europe bound? Foyle is better paid and less talented than the overpaid and undersized D-Fish. And Baron Davis is...Baron Davis,
Do you guys think it's a possibility we could get Murphy for expiring contracts if we also took on one of Mullin's mistakes along with him (in other words, Fisher or Foyle)? jopatmc, I don't see them ever being desperate enough to give us Pietrus AND Murphy just to dump one bad contract (Fisher). The whole league is in love with Pietrus.
If Rudy T would have stuck by his guns and just picked T-Murph instead of doing that terrible deal for Griffin then we would already have him.
That and the fact that all GS big men seem to be able to pad their stats there, only to fall on their face elsewhere.
I'm not seeing what you're seeing. It's great to get Murphy (who I like) and Pietrus (who I like even more) but then to take on Fisher's albatross of a contract and Murphy's as well...it's not sounding too good to me. And besides, we just basically took 3 out of their top 8 players and give them crap in that deal. Typical Rockets dreamcasting.
Murphy is BYC next year, dont know if the new CBA changes any of that, so it could be hard to get him. He is one of those rebounders who make you say, wtf how did he get all those rebounds when you see the box score. Probably one of the worst defenders in the league at the 4, if not the worst. I put more faith in yao guarding PFs then murphy. Is somewhat of a streaky shooter, but is pretty consistant with his 3 point shot if he gets his spot. There are alot of negatives that go along with trying to trade for murphy since he is one of the softest PFs out there. Theres a reason why the GS warriors drafted the next elton brand even though they already have a high paid PF. If you think yao is soft wait till you see murphy play a couple games.
The Warriors are going to be a force next season. Mullins stock as GM has gone way up in my book and its a nice problem to have when you have the option of trading away a Troy Murphy for another piece.
