My bf's friends through a Toga Party every year and in the past (who knows, maybe some of ya'll have been?), it's been at Live, Spy and Pangea. I've never actually been but last year, they had about 200 people there and it sounded like a lot of fun. A group of guys go into it and invite all their friends that in turn invite their friends.

Do you have any location suggestions for me? It will be on a Saturday night so the place can't be one that is packed every Saturday night. In the past, they have not had to pay for reservations. All they did was talk to the manager and guarantee a certain amount in alcohol sales (i.e. $3000). Downtown, Midtown, Village, Richmond...wherever is fine. As long as the set up inside flows, we can get beer troughs and the bar is okay with us using their facilities but not paying cover but guaranteeing alcohol sales.

I appreciate your help in advance. Please keep the ideas flowing!!

I crashed a toga part at Pangea a while back. I'd say about 1.5 years ago? I wonder if that was the same one your b/f. We were the asians that were completely out of place NOT in Togas =P

The Pangea (R&R) one was August 2004. I didn't go so I don't know. They did say the one at Spy (before it closed) a few years ago was packed with Asians downstairs and the Toga Party was upstairs.

Any suggestions for a place that is NOT that packed on a Saturday night? Some of our thoughts are Continental Club, Live (Stack24??), Ruby Room above Slainte's, Meridian, Engine Room, etc. Any place in downtown that is slowly losing business that might be interested in hosting this event? Anyone with connections to these places?

    I appreciate it.

Talk to Joe at The Drink Bar/BarFly. They could be interested.

FIRST OF ALL: It's "THROW" a party, not "through." ;)

Second, learn this Handy LATIN phrase: Estne volumen in toga, an solum tibi libet me videre?
Which means: Is that a scroll in your toga, or are you just happy to see me?

    THIRD: Are we bbs'ers invited?

But at least I got my "their" right!! ;) Thanks though (no sarcasm).

Yeah, I'll go back to this thread when the date and location are picked out. Only two rules apply for this party:

    1) Wear a toga
    2) Drink alcohol

I'll rent out my house for your (albeit a lame theme) toga party. Only two rules apply:

    1) No guys
    2) Drink alcohol

We want to avoid a rental fee that's why we want to find an establishment that is not PACKED on Saturdays and doesn't mind us using their place. But I'll look into this. Is parking a pain here?

    Thanks.
