...get two role players, instead of one mid-superstar. This has been the M.O. where ever JVG has been. I am not saying they are not going to make trades, but as for the ME it will be split. From what I've heard throught the interviews of the Rox org. they are looking for an athletice 4 and a back-up to T-mac. To get all of that with the ME, I see them getting. C. Anderson and Demarr Johnson.... what do yout think?
Isn't there still also a LLE? I don't know what the number on that is, or, if there are any suitable backups for that price range, but considering how much T-Mac plays, his backup really does not need to be getting paid a lot. For the most part, you get what you pay for. Yao is not a dominant player (yet?). Tracy is. If you are going to have 1 dominant player, you need at least a couple significantly above average players, or multiple above average players. Take all 4 Conf. Finals opponents (Spurs, Suns, Pistons, Heat). Most of the 2nd round contenders as well. I don't see the team improving to championship caliber level without signing at least 1 more important piece. Splitting up the MLE won't do that.
Johnson is a 2, but can play the 3 since he is a legit 6'9, and even though Yao is not a dominating player now, he will be making the max, so he will be dominating the Rox salary cap, along with T-Mac.
He sure doesn't rebound like a 3. I watched him a lot in college and always thought that he was too soft to play in the front court. His 3pt % is a bit worse than I thought it would be, but you've got to like those 6'9" 2guards. Has anyone seen him play much? I know he was with Atlanta for a while.
See him play much... the guy only started for Denver last year, during the second half of the season when they went on their run. I'm not saying that he is the "answer", but for a cheap servicable back-up to T-Mac, who can hit the outside 3 and is long, I don't see why not. And if you think, with having as many combo guards as we already have that they are going to use their entire ME on another combo guard, you must be crazy.... The only way I "may" see this happening is if we make a trade and get rid of 2 of our guards. But the main focus of this summer, regards of using our ME, is on the 4 spot. Everyone who I feel will be an upgrade to what we have know seems to be setting their price higher than the ME. Maybe the market will go down when ever the signing period starts, but by then all of the good PF's will be gone.
I like Demarr Johnson..looks fine after car accident. Swift? PLEASE?!? Finley? Head/James Can Head start? Finley/Barry Tmac/Johnson Swift/Howard Yao/Dikembe Is it possible?
I agree....especially after Daniels ran the SA guards and came up clutch several games in that series. And although I don't want this, it looks more like Mike James will be gone in a trade now that we've selected Luther Head and may possibly sign V-Span.
The situation is different than before. We need a PF badly, even good quality back-up 4s take most of the MLE. Unless we have a trade for one set up, all the MLE has to be saved up for a decent starter or quality (wothy of 20MPG+) backup 4.
The Rox may well split the MLE (get Scalabbrini or Sangalia!!!), as AD will be a Cav? (Unless they sign the kid who once played at Maryland?)
Ced- Is this your opinion or do you have insider information? It sounds like you're saying that this 100% for fact what they will do, until you mention articles.... So are you saying this is what you think they'll do or this is what they ARE going to do?
