How many other people in here have been to Vegas? I also want to know which casinos do you all love, the best restaurants, and which games do you like to play.

    Best Casino in order:
    Ceasers Palace
    Mandalay Bay
    Venetian

Bellagios is not all that I thought,

    Best restaurants:
Red Square in Mandalay (their filet mignion kicks ass)
Spagos and Cheesecake in Ceasers rock.
Prime and Picasso in Venetian I heard are supposed to be the best. (I didn't get a chance to eat their though)

    Best Game:
Roulette by far (damn I think I might be addicted now). I wasn't the first couple of times when I went to Vegas, but this time it got me hooked. I blame it on Francis's #3 for winning me a grand. Once u win, u can't quit.
Black Jack and Slots suck! Blackjack-u might as well go to the dealer and say "here's my thousand bucks, take it". Slots are just boring.

Other things about Vegas: Did anyone else know that those bell boys make well over a 100 grand a year. I'm serious. They make a killing on tips. U have to be on a waiting list to be a freakin bell boy! hehehe
NewYork NewYork sucks. Mirage is kind of boring as well. Best place to gamble is MGM.

I would agree with your top choices.

I was there recently with my wife. We went to see the Hotels more than the gambling. I mean it is amazing. It is like going to all these different countries without leaving the states. The Hotels are just amazing...

The Venetian was just like going to Venice, Italy. They actually bring in the gondala drivers from Italy.

Paris, Paris is awesome with it's own version of the Eifel Tower.

The Bellagio is a sight. Especially the beautiful water show in front of the hotel.

Mandalay Bay is rocking with it's huge outdoor beach.

Las Vegas is a cool city. And each of the hotels has these really cool buffets. I mean you can really pig out!!!

I really liked New York, New York. Ride their roller coaster at night sometime...Its awesome!

I'm a kid, and I've been to Vegas three times in my life...Last time I went was last summer.

As far as family things go, the best hotel is probably the Excalibur. They have all sorts of kid things to do. They have the WCW Nitro Grill, the awesome midway, and the joust/dinner show. Pretty neat place.

Now...when you're a kid with some free time by yourself in Vegas...MGM Grand, New York New York, and the Luxor are all cool.

That hotel out there in Primm has a really awesome roller coaster. One of the top roller coasters I've ever ridden!

I've been to Bellagio, and IMHO it IS ALL THAT!

It's not as flashy as some, but they took high dollar understated elegance to the extreme. Everything there cost a fortune, and the rooms are the BOMB!

The Cirque du Soleil show there ('O') is worth every single penny--and it ain't cheap!

Mandalay Bay, The Venetian, Paris, and Ceaser's are my next favorite--in that order.

If you want to see LOTS of the hottest chicks--uhmmm...excuse me...I meant very attractive young ladies, then you must spend an evening at the Hard Rock Casino.

Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of my two favorite restaurants, and I've been to each of them at least two or three times. One is the Wolfgang Puck Asian restaurant back in Ceaser's close to the Cheesecake Factory, and the other is a deli about three miles from the strip on the road that goes to the airport (and out to the Hoover Dam)--they have easily the best bagel and smoked salmon I've ever had.

I like to find deals to stay at the nicer places ('cuz they ain't gonna comp me--I'm no high-roller), but I'd rather gamble at some of the smaller places--I especially like Barbary Coast next to the Flamingo.

Before you make your next trip, I highly recommend a vist to www.cheapovegas.com --this guy has done his homework.

It's been about 5 years since I've been to Las Vegas, but I remember the Friday night seafood buffet at the Rio was pretty damn good. However I had been drinking since that afternoon, so ANYTHING would have been good. As far as the casinos go, I always liked going downtown for some reason. I guess I like to watch the old men in plaid jackets losing their social security money. Best sports book is at the Hilton. And don't forget to play a Jimi Hendrix slot machine at the Hard Rock Cafe!!

Las Vegas rocks, haven't stayed at many hotels so I don't know about rooms. Cesar's casino rocks as a voyer, most all the hotels mentioned are worth checking out.

There is a cool Italian resteraunt called "Ballatore's" if I remember. Home style, drink all the wine you can for free, it is part of the deal. Very good food (more home style than upscale Italion), vibrant atmosphere, and great way to start a night (you will need those carbos in the wee hours anyway).

The best place to hang out though is the Forum. Did anyone else see those shows when the statues start moving and there is like a mini-play. That was awesome. I also love the fake sky they have overhead. Now Venetian and Paris Paris copied it, but Forum is still the best. Also the Rain Forest Cafe in MGM is bad ass looking, but the food was alright.

I was there in October and discovered the game "Let it Ride". You make 3 equal bets ($5.00 minimum per bet). You are dealt 3 cards. After looking at your cards you can pull back one of your bets. The dealer then turns over a common card for everyone at the table. After viewing that card you can pull back another bet. The dealer then turns over the 5th card. Certain pairs pay 1-1, 2 pairs 2-1, 3 of a kind 3-1, etc. Unless you get some tough decision making hands, you can play there for a long time. At one point I was dealt the Ace, King and 10 of diamonds. All the dealer had to do was turn the Jack and Queen of diamonds and I would have made around $80,000. Alas, the 5 and 6 of spades came up. Interestingly enough, the Jack and Queen were still in the deck. None of the other 6 players at the table had them.

I was there in Jan. And for the first time in my life I have lost money (I have been there around 6-7 times). DAMN LOSING MONEY SUCKS!!!!!!! [IMG]

Well anyways I stayed at Paris and it was pretty bad ass. Take the tour to Grand Canyon with some friends, you wont regret it. I went to Prime in Bellagios and the filet mignon is one of the best. A little on the expensive side, but worth it if you can afford it. Hit the buffet lines everywhere if you want the best bargains.

Your going to have a great time as long as you go in thinking it's ok to lose a little cash. If you come home a winner it's all the better. Everytime we go, we stay at the Treasure Island. I like it for the location, pretty much in the middle of the strip, old and new. When you go use the bus that runs up and down the strip (usually one about every 5 minutes) if you've got to go a good ways down the strip. They stop just about every 300 yards, but for $1 a person, it's much better than a cab. Don't be afraid to take the bus...everyone takes it. I think it's called the 102 or something like that...there everywhere.
As for gambling...first things first...there are day time betting minimums, and night time minimums....so if your on a limited budget, you can toss around a little more coin during the day. I personally like Craps and Black Jack. I've played in quite a few of the "big" casinos, and weathered the storms. For some reason, maybe because I've got the Irish blood, I bring home the bacon at a place called O'Shea's. It across kind of across the street from Ceasars and just a little past Harras. I believe it is a part of the Flamingo Hilton??? As many times as I've played there you would think I would know. Anyway, in the "big" casinos, your looking at $5/10 minimums in the day, and $10-$25 minimus at night...at the cheap tables. Well, at O'Shea's the minimum at the BJ table during the day is $3. $5 at the Craps table. I enjoy craps, because you can get in when somebody is hot, and walk away 15 minutes later with triple what you came in with. All in all, it's all about "when to walk away". The smartest thing I ever learned was to take a set $$ amount with you to the casino along with your drivers license and your room key. If you lose what you came in with, you don't have a Debit card or Credit card to make the bleeding worse. Take you lumps for the session and then go see a show/eat/sleep, and wait for the next time later in the day, or next day.

Take a look here at www.vegas.com

They list all the "free" shows that are put on by the different hotels. As for the Grand Canyon tour, do it by foot or by horse/mule. Stay away from the plane/chopper tours to The Canyon, there have been numerous crashes/deaths becuase of pilot error. Not really error, but they hire the pilots, that don't have a lot of experience with canyon flying and the wind effects caused by the conditions. You also go out to the Hoover Dam and take the Damn Dam tour. I think it only cost us $30 for tour, including the bus ride and a tour of the Cranberry Plant out side of Vegas.

PS...another hint. Sign up for the different types of "Players Club" deals that are at each Casino. They give you a card, and you get credit for every dollar you get chips for, or coins in the slot. The key is, you can give them $10, $100, $1000 for chips (at the tables only, not at the counters) and get credit for that $ amount. Sit there for 15-20 minutes....spend/loss/win a few bucks walk away and cash in your chips at the counter and leave. Come back to that casino later in the day, drop the same amount that you cashed in, in for more chips at the table and hand them your card for that dollar amount. Play for a little bit, not losing much, and then cash in your chips again. So, saying that you came in and gave the dealer $500. They give you $500 in chips and credit your player card for $500, you lose $50, and cash in at the counter (not the table) for your $450 cash and leave. You now come back later to one of the tables and give them the $450 cash (at the table) for chips and get $450 credit put on your player card. Play a little, if you lose $50 you leave the table with your chips and then go cash them in at the couter for $400 dollars cash.
Here is what you have accomplished:
You gambled away $100 dollard, but you have been credited on your players card for spending $950. The casino lets you use your credit $$'s towards food/rooms/merchandise. Of course it's not a $ for $ trade in value, but you can rack up the $ easier this way. Of course, you didn't hear it from me, and if you win instead of losing, your doing that much better.

    Just have fun!

You're thinking of it all wrong, Curly.

You go to Vegas to make money, man. If you go to spend money, you will.

Rockets03, the trick is really to know when to quit. Don't spend too much time in one place. Leave when you're up. I like to go into a casino, sit down at a table with a dealer that I like, make about fifty bucks and an extra five for the dealer, then head to the next casino.

Go to make money. If you know when to quit, you'll leave ahead and a lot happier.

I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago. I stayed at New York - New York. IMO, it definitely did not "suck".

The MGM Grand buffet is AWESOME!!!! It's about 20$ including tip, and well worth every penny. I went there twice.

I hardly gambled at all and still had a blast. Some people think that you have to gamble if you go to Vegas in order to have a good time. Wrong!

The Bellagio was my favorite hotel/casino. Awesome water show at night. I went to the art exhibit there. For $12 I saw Van Gogh's and Monet's. Very cool!

Thanks for the tips guys... Keep 'em coming.... I have found a few really nice resources on the web that I thought I'd share.

VegasWatch.com has a GREAT UBB where I got loads of info...

HitorStand.com is an online guide to mastering basic strategy for Blackjack. I am totally addicted right now.

I hope to make money, but am realistic and am thinking I will lose what I have budgeted. That way, any "extra" money I come with is just a bonus. That being said, I will do my best to know when to quit.

What do y'all think of Imperial Palace? I've heard the casino and buffet are terrible. This is the hotel I am staying at and was wondering if any of you have had any experience in being a guest there.

Also, have any of you attempted to upgrade your rooms by asking the check-in clerk or by offering a $20 "tip"? I've read a lot about this on the VegasWatch site and wanted your thoughts.
