i could see a sign a trade situation involving chandler for jho hometown boy and former allstar. the bulls are terribly young and someone like jho be a great fit for them.

    1) Go after a defensive minded SG in a S&T like Raja Bell, Mobley, Daniels.

    2) Sign a top free agent PF that has all around game like Swift, Kwame, SAR or Fatoine. Reggie Evans, Marshall and Andersen should be considered secondary or fall back options.

    3) Challenge our scouts to put up one hell of summer league roster. Names that come to mind are John Gilchrist, Kennedy Winston, Randolph Morris, Kelenna Azubueke, DeSagana Diop, James Thomas, Steve Logan, etc.

    4) Try to snag a waive casualty for the vet minimum like H20, Finley, LaFrentz, etc.

    5) Look for an opportunity to rid ourselves of our dead weight, expiring contract players and use our trade exceptions.

Walker is far from a rebounding stud. The rebounding numbers of players like Walker and SAR are inflated due to playing 35-40 minutes a game every year and always playing on bad teams where they are the only big man on the team to collect rebounds. They get all the easy rebounds. That's not the type of rebounder the Rockets need. Juwan Howard is the same way. He used to get decent rebounding numbers on bad teams with no big men. Then he went here, his minutes were reduced and his rebounding numbers plummeted to 5 a game. I would expect the same to happen to Walker.

We already have Yao and Howard that can box out and get the easy rebounds. The Rockets need a big man that can go out and get the athletic rebounds. The ones where they chase down a long rebound or jump over another player to get a rebound. The type of rebounds Robert Horry usually gets. Swift can do that. That's where Dallas killed us. They got all the athletic rebounds.

if we could do that, then CD is the MAN! we would have to throw in other things as well... like future first rounders. other than that... i dont see what else we could offer the bulls.

Chanlder is the only pf i wouldnt mind doing a sign and trade for and paying more than the mle.

however, with that said... no way do the bulls do this trade. they are set with curry and chandler down low.

JHo and Curry are tight. JHo and Curry have health issues. Bulls might want JHo (Logo certainly appears to want Curry) but no way for TC.

The thing is even though Chandler was playing more minutes than Antonio Davis the Bulls had Davis starting instead. Chandler was diplomatic over the situation but it was somewhat obvious he wasn't that happy. I thought it may had been a sign the Bulls had lost a little faith in Chandler as well.

Probably just had the mentality, "If it aint broke, don't fix it."

Davis is getting older, Chandler is obviously their long-term solution. They probably just plan to ride the current rotation out until it either becomes ineffective or age catches up to Davis.

I'd hate, despare, pull my hair out, and cry like a girl if we got Walker. The man's a cancer to a TEAM. Yes he puts up nice INDIVIDUAL numbers, but we want to win a championship, a thing that requires unselfish play.

I have an idea on how to handcuff him in the nightmare scenario we get him - fine the crap out of him for 3PA. Give him 2 free 3PA a game, and if he doesn't get one of them, he gets a huge fine for EACH 3PA he makes after that (maybe 20k a pop). If he gets at least one of them (ie shooting 50% or better), he can only continue to take them while shooting above 50%, or the fines kick in again. While no agent would ever allow a clause like that in a contract, something as punative as that needs to be in his contract for us to win.

cd said that we're fortunate that there are fa's that are drawn to houston. i wonder if swift is one of those.

I am not sold on Swift or Bonzi for the Rockets. Bonzi has attitude issues and Stromile is an underachiever who I fear will only disappoint us a la MoT if he signs a big deal. I'd be much more comfortable with Haslem or SAR. We'll need to have a solid discussion about Swift individually in a another thread.

Swift has been plenty discussed already. There isn't much more to say about him until after the Rox make their moves next month. If Swift is involved, we'll beat the subject to death again.

i think being a starter would be a big boost for this kid. swift that is. mike james kicked ass as a starter but coming off the bench he seemed to be streaky. it plays on confidence. maybe that why james started looking for his shot too often. trying to get a starting spot.. ??

Chandler would be perfect, but is unattainable. I'm intrigued by Anderson as a possible good value pickup.

If we land Antoine Walker, I'm no longer Rockets fan.

Please, don't imply that anymore - cause you all can see that fundamental BB wins. And he is #1 guy in the league who knows nothing about team play!

I agree and I think he would be a good pickup.

Now lets see how they get it done.
