Dont eat at three amigos if you go the Astros game. Its expensive and is very nasty but we got our own personal room which was kinda cool. Go for hot dogs or Popeye's Chicken.

Tell them your going to take them to the San Jacinto Monument, right after your turn off on TX 225 say "uhoh the A/C went out, we'll have to roll down the windows". Cuise like nothing's happening till they have a chance to get a big ol' whiff and then say "smell that? .......mmmmm, smells like money!"

    I love it!

My Dad worked on the Ship Channel and in LaPorte for 30+ years until he retired. Whenever he drove the family down 225, and we started to complain about the stink, he would tell us "that stink puts meat and potatoes on your dinner plate!"

    :D

That reminds me...I just put G's IceHouse on the list!

Goodson's in Tomball makes the claim of Best Chicken Fried Steak in Texas. Apparently Texas Monthly magazine named them as the best place in Texas to get Chicken Fried Steak and they've taken that to heart.

I will admit it is pretty darn good.

make 'em get a lawnmower...... some of the best beer around, especially when it's hot-as-hell outside.

There's a place out on 1093 west of hwy 6 that out in the middle of nowhere. The waitress's are dressed like little old ladies. Best chicken fried steak I've ever had.

Anyone know the place I'm talking about? Can't remember the name.

I agree with this. (caution: I'm abaout to generalize milllions of people) Cali people have completely different tastes in food. While we Texans like a salad to be a side dish containing lettuce. tomatoes, and ranch dressing they like a salad to be an entree with spinach, avocado, and tangerines. They probably won't be impressed by a giant, deep-fried steak covered with lucious cream gravy... mmmmm.. whu?? where was I?? Oh yes, Californians... They'll probably like lighter meals filled with kooky vegetables and very little meat.

Sure, but that's the reason to have something like CFS here. When in Rome, right? If I'm in Cali, I'm sure not going to want Tex-Mex or a CFS.

True. But it seems that Cali people just aren't interested in pursuing the "when in Rome" mindset while they visit Houston. They'll say things like, "The cigarette smoke is giving me a headache (one person is smoking 100 feet away)"... "It's really greasy and I try to avoid fried foods" ... " and it's just too hot outside."... and "I didn't get any exercise today, so I feel all fat."

Man, I hope RMTex isn't bringing any of thses kind of people. People like these needn't go anywhere but their sanitized "bubble-boy" houses.

They can't all be like this, though. There are In-n-Out burgers all over their state.

Oh, the joy named In-n-Out. How I wish... how I wish they were here. Thank you for reminding me.
